i would like to point out 2 things wich could improve online gaming.
First of all i'm missing a " Observer mode" , fr people who dont know it means , 2 people are playing and some other people are watching the game. I like it how it's done in WC3, and it's fun if a bunch of people are in a channel and sharing their games.
Second thing is , i think i mentioned it before , Random Players , if you play random , your opponent shouldn't see your race till he scouted you or you advanced to the next age.
Tell me what you think---------Positive-----------

observer mode can be very tricky since always one guy could put his friend on observer mode and have them chat to the guy through an outside chat device and tell him where the opponent is...where he is gonna attack and so on. Even in EE:AOC not a lot of ppl used this observer mode.
I agree on the random civ thing thats a neat idea but hopefully it shows u who u r b4 the game starts. That way u wont be wasting precious seconds tryin to figure what ur civ is and so forth. The civs in AOM are very diverse so not knowing what civ ur playing b4 the game starts could affect ur game.....in a very small way but still.
imagine u got to be Thor and started pumping vils and then realized u were Thor and have to go with dwarves. that would fukk ur game

Hmmm I disagree, the ability to either co-op, or observe is great in creating game clinics to try and teach newer players. Back when I was in AoKCC, frequently we'd teach newer players how to get better by co-oping in a game, and having the new player just watch what the other player did.
TheShædøwDåwn If you're like me, then it's possible you're a clone generated from my stolen DNA. I suggest you turn yourself in for destruction immediately.

AgeMyth I think you were reading the topic not properly. Let me explain, if you play random , you know your civilazation only when the game starts, but your enemy shouldn't know until he scouted you or you advanced in a new age.
To the observing a game , i mean it's a good idea to have it in advanced setup , of course not in a rated game. But in a advanced setup it's cool, just imagine we having a forum party and you would like to see how "the shadowdawn" is playing against another player. Of course the obs can not talk to the players . Just have a look at WC3 on battle.net , i'm often with friends in a channel and we play a few friendlys , after the game you can discuss your playing style and get even tips from the observers on improving your game style.
But that brings me to another problem of ESO , creating your own channels. If this would be implemented ESO could actually be a god server to host this games.

No, random is just meant to randomly pick a god for you if you aren't sure. Beside,s the player could jsut chekc the diplomacy tab.
Besides, the enemy doens't know who you are until the game starts anyways, so he can't pick a god that will have an advantage on you.

I don't think it really matters if the enemy knows which god you chose. If your opponent chose a god that might counter yours and you are good enough, you can still win.

Observer mode would be good. But yeah there are those people who have their friends on the phone in Observer mode so they know everything about the opponent (I have done it in Allied Assault with my friend) but who wants to be watching the game all the time and not playing?
Observer mode is a good idea, I agree.

I don't think observer mode is a good idea on a technical basis. It's clear that peoples connections are strained well enough already and for every observer there would be just as much data going back and forth as for a regular player. People wanting to learn can watch demos instead.
I agree with the random thing, though I don't think it really means much either. Change it whenever there is time to spare on the little things.
