hey in a map like alfheim or something where there is grass on top of the big rocks jutting out can you fill a roc with slingers and wreak havoc from above? do they get a bonus like in AoK for height?

wow i didnt know this would bring up so much response. i was just wondering if it would work ive never tried or seen it. usually as im sitting in history class i come up with things (US history-- what a drag...) that seem impossible and try to pull them off. see what strategies i might have to fight against. it could get very lame especially if the game is going well for you and this happens right over the main battle field. or even at your own base it would be worse. i have never tried this, dont plan on it but isnt it always good to think up seemingly impossible situations and learn what to do in them?

Son of Osiris should be able to knock out the catapult and the slingers. Egyptians can knock out the cats/slingers with their own rocs and melee units. Zeus can use his bolt to knock out an expensive catapult and then tower up the route to the cliff. Hades can try his toxotes or manticores. Poseidon can try centaurs. The Norse can try trolls/fire giants.
PS:Zeus can also try Centaurs and manticores/Medusae.

ok Catapults are mythic, so by that time, every race has a counter. Greeks, cmon use petrobolas, Eggies, catapults themselves, Norse, Ballista or TA's. It seems that everyone is complaining because this tactic is to hard to stop, but make a few siege weapons of your own, and attack their catapults. Oh yeah and please dont ***** that Eggie catapults are the best and thus it is lame to do this, sure it might be but the time your opponent can do this you can build a counter, just the same as you can to any other strat.

They can use the Roc and move to another cliff. And they can throw SoO into the Roc too, which means another SoO would have a hard time fighting it. And as has been stated earlier, some civs still have no way to counter it. Catapults destroy things so quickly that by the time you can get your own siege out to fight it, the catapults could have already taken down several buildings and then they just fly away in the Roc. Roc flies away to another cliff, catapults do massive damage while possibly having a priest heal them, and repeat when a counter shows up, if there is one. Siege weapons are kind of slow moving and don't do very much damage to counter other siege weapons...

sure siege weapons can counter the roc drop. IF the rocdropper completely forgets about his catapults and actually let's you hit them before loading them in the roc again and taking off. The roc is so fast it's ridicolously hard having anything keep up with it. Especially on alfheim where the hills make it impossible to follow.

And, for some reason, you were unable to create your own ranged-siege units? Every civ gets one, even the Norse.

Throwing Axeman?!!!
The Norse have the best counter to this trick-The Fire Giant. This guy causes hack damage. He can tear down seige engines in athe blink of an eye!But you do need favour though....
Note:All Norse civies get the FireGiant.
Anubites...
I dunno but I think these guys can jump onto cliffs just as they can off them. So there you have a unit which causes hack damage and can leap onto the cliff as well.
Note:The anubite is cheap(100F,15Favour)and the Egyptians don't have a problem massing Favour.
Then there's always that building/seige destroying unit, the Phoenix
Only Ra is devoid of the Anubite and the Phoenix but he does get his own Rocs.
Shifting Sands is also a viable option....
Petrolobos and Greek Ranged Heroes.
Roc=Myth Unit.-----1
Greek Ranged Hero=Myth Unit Buster.------2
Adding 1 and 2 we get a Roc buster. And when a Roc goes down all that is in it goes down.
Bolt can be used to the same effect.
Losing a roc and it's contents is extremely irritating.
Peltasts/Toxotes? Now way!(Too slow and ineffective.)
Maybe you could use underworld passage instead....

About the Catapults. 10 upgraded chariots will destroy one of these every 4 seconds. Thats not that bad. This tactic can be countered using just ranged units. It's not like they are immune to archer fire, they are just resistant but they only have 115 hps.
