Here's the deal though, triggers simply don't work reliably online, sometimes they fire, sometimes they don't. I have no choice but to remove them all.
This has caused an interesting dilema...since the trigger to disable the first TC popping out starting units has been removed, when you get your TC up you get the complete compliment of villies/priests/scout/dwarfs/ulfsarks, etc.
For Greece and Egypt the solution was simple, you don't get a priest or a scout to start. Greeks get three villies, Egyptians get two villies and a Pharoh. You then have to collect enough resources to get your TC up. (and scout with villies/sheep just like the old days)
Keeping in mind I can't use triggers because they are too unstable online, the question is what to do about Norse? Right now I give them a cart two villes (dwarfs if Thor), and an ulfsark. When they get thier TC up they end up with two carts and two ulfies in addition to the villes. I can't decide if this is an unfair advantage or not. Seems unfair to me.
The only thing I can effectively change is starting resources and/or starting units, but I can't take away the cart and still expect them to collect resources. If I take away villies then I have to give them enough resources to get a TC up. I was thinking just two starting ulfies and exactly enough resources to get the TC up, but then they end up with three ulfies once it's up, and although they get less villies then everyone else to start, they can build houses and a temple a lot faster, or potentially even attack with the three ulfies...although archaic ulfies are weak.
Not sure what to do here and was wondering if any of you AOK players from way back who play Land Nomad have any ideas. Remember, a trigger is out of the question. What should I do with norse starting units?
