From my Isis article:
"Anubis also has the Necropolis tech, researched at the Temple, which increases Monument favor rate by 10%... if you are planning to use any myth units, and you should, get that tech, when you have 3 Monuments, it becomes highly useful. However, it’s not all as easy as it seems here.
So, Necropolis costs 250 gold and 10 favor. The third monument costs 200 food and 200 gold, and it increases the favor rate by 44% compared to having 2 monuments. 4th monument costs 300 of both food and gold, improving rate by 30%, and the fifth monument, at 400 of food and gold, increases the favor rate by 27%. Necropolis increases the rate by 10%... so, if you don’t have three monuments, it’s pretty useless for its cost, if you have three, it’s fine, and if you have four, it’s profitable. So, getting an extra monument is usually a better investment for your money, but if you happen to build 4 of them (doesn’t happen every game), then get the tech. Taken from the game files, a monument generates favor at 0.097 favor per second, which obviously becomes 0.1067 with Necropolis. Now, Acropolis costs 10 favor. If you can be bothered with the maths, it’s easy to see 0.097 * x = 0.1067 * x – 10. I won’t be presenting all the details next, but with three monuments up, you compensate for the favor spent to research Necropolis in 398 seconds, which is more than 6.5 minutes – might be worth it, but hardly. Even with all monuments, it takes 4 minutes… bottom line is, don’t research this tech if you have less than 3 monuments… if you happen to build 4 and it doesn’t seem like the game is over, then feel free to research it.
