Don't listen to that: Booming means focussing solely on economy, thus not building an army or defensive buildings, just economy. After a while, when your economy is set up, they start flooding units and stuff, and will not cease because they have the economy to do that.
1 stay in archaic a bit longer and do an archaic boom, advance later than usual but have a very good econ set up.
2 Hit classical in a decent time, still build 2 barracks, take a second tc asap (by 6 min) and create vills from both. Make minimal defenses. Get like 50 vills before you start to focus on military. But them spam military buildings.
3 you can even do a 3 tc boom and have 80 vills by 12 min.
You just have to be ready and able to defend yourself if necessary. Upgrading towers isnt a bad idea.

A couple of wall segments to create choke points, so you can guide your opponent when he raids you, is not a bad plan for booming either.
FAILURE is not an option, it comes bundled with the software. The graduate with a science degree asks, "Why does it work ?" The graduate with an engineering degree asks, "How does it work ?" The graduate with an accounting degree asks, "How much will it cost ?" The graduate with an arts degree asks, "Do you want fries with that ?" Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people.

yes, its usually taking a late classical and then setting up one or two new TCs so u can max out economic potential for superiority later on. That means getting an army later, and the army is usually ur wood unit.

If youre booming, but you know youre fighting a raider, be norse so you can build walls with your mil., then spam towers. Norse towers are bad, but better than nothing. And the problem with making lots of walls and towers with other civs is that you need to pull villagers to do so.

You cant boom as Norse anyway because its hard to get those TCs up, and you wouldnt boom vs a raider anyway. And you cant boom/tower spam and build the units u need to tower spam at the same time

if you tower spam you dont need units except for hersir, and upgrade crenellations so hes cavalry get pwned. The only time you need to start worrying is when he gets siege.

boom? comes from baby boom? Then it means making lots of babies fast, and thats only done with several TC's pumping vills at once. This way u can increase your villager pop, and hence your eco in a very fast way.
Booming can be done at the same time u make army and attack. Then its just a different form of boom. As long as u have several TC's pumping vills at the same time its a boom.
yeah AOM is made of rock-paper-scissors Humans/Myths/Heroes Cavalry/Archer/Infantry Hammer Ship/Siege Ship/Arrow Ship Siege Weapon/Military Unit/Building Instakill (Medusa)/Strong (Colossus)/Swarm (Automaton) Rush/Boom/Turtle

building up defenses, upgrade towers, make walls etc. Its kinda stupid really. You do this and make a bigger army to come out to play.

Turtling against Loki is still quite effective - upgrade towers and wall up and just try to keep in range of TC and tower fire to reduce the rush's power. Then make army behind base and attack when ready.
Problem with this is that if he knows you're doing it and you dont get that army fast, he can steal your TCs.

If youre Attie, particularly Gaia, and you somehow or another get a second TC, its gg because an Attie pumping 2x villagers is hard to stop if youre Loki.
