Topic Subject:Hack and Crush?

You know how some units do hack and crush damage, eg. the battle boar does 20 hack and 20 crush, does the unit do both damages at the same time when attacking a particular unit, or only one type of damage depending on the type of unit/building they are facing?

I think they do just one type of damage for each unit

More complicated, needs more precision.

I thought they always did both types of damage at the same time.

I'm positive they do both types. I think that is one reason gastas are so good against titans is they are doing both types of damage. If there were any units that did both pierce and hack they would completely own. The problem is that doing both types is hard to notice cause of most units having 99% crush damage or buildings with 99% pierce.

The one they show is the one they do to units.

Example: Medusa. Does Pierce damage to units (because that's what it shows it as) but Crush against buildings.

Since Crush sucks against units basically, if a unit is both Hack and Crush (or Pierce and Crush), they will use Hack (Pierce) against units, and Crush against buildings, unless the unit's main attack is Crush. (There may be some exceptions, but that wraps it up.)

You are incorrect.

Think about the ballistas they show crush damage but why are they still good vs infantries and sometimes archers?
Because they have pierce damamgee too thats why.
Example: titan they dont have neither crush nor pierce armor 99% so they take both.

Also try in the editor and see how fast titan can kill a palace. Its not only the crush damamge but also they have hack.
i just played a scenario which i had to kill a titan whats they best.... ballistas, why, because they do 2 kinds of damage on normal units 2 damamge wont effect much cuz they have either 99 crush or 99 pierce. But titans dont they have 89% for crush and somethin for pierce thatsa not 99%, thats why we use ballistas and gasteraphes becuz they do double damage to the titans

I shall not bring up another wierd website, sorry if you felt unconfertable about it.

If a unit has two types of damage, it does both at once.

However, crush damage is useless against any non-MU unit and pierce is useless against buildings. So most of the time what you're seeing is just one kind of damage.

Ok I see... that also explains why there are many units that are a lot more effective than their stats indicate.

Take a look at the cyclops it normally has 15 hack and 12 crush (the higher value is shown, if they are both the same it goes aphabetically, that is why the titan displays 70 crush as c comes before h. But when you upgrade it it goes to 24 crush but still 15 hack, however then the crush damage is displayed. The elder cyclops are only better vs buildings but it is still worth the cost.
