Problem with Age of Mythology vanilla

There's a Windows security update from September that causes the problem.

KB3086255

Open Control Panel and click on "Uninstall a program" (if you don't see that, go to Programs and Features). On the left click on "View Installed Updates". Wait for the list to populate then sort by name. Scroll down under the Microsoft Windows heading and find Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3086255) Right-click it and uninstall. Restart when finished. Click on Start-->All Programs-->Windows Update-->Check for Updates After the check is finished, under "Important Updates" right-click KB3086255 and hide it.

Try using the manual methods:

1. Right click > Run as Administrator
2. Right click > Compatibility > Run as Windows XP Sp2

Try both ways, and reply the results.

Right click the exe go to properties then permissions/security and give access to all.

Ok, I tried both methods, and although the previous message doesn't appear anymore the game still doesn't start

. Also I can't find the permissions option.

My bad I believe it's "security"

You should see something that says Users, and then your name, along with other ones. Edit them and check off "allow" to everything on every one. I'm not in front of a computer at the moment.

Still I can't play, even when I use the Play option from the CD itself, for some reason the game doesn't start :/, why this happens?
