I assume that setting Dialog Portraits for cinematics will enable the icon of the unit that is speaking. That's what I want to know how to do, so can anyone enlighten me? I'd like to have a portrait for the following units:

Athena
Jason
Theseus
Achilles
Arcus
Citizen
Dwarf
Hero of Ragnorok

Thanks in advance.

If you have cheezy's/Reyk's New Editor, you can just scroll trough all the portraits. Or does TT have a portrait-browser alrdy? I forgot

Thatīs right (Options/Portrait)! Or You look into the AoM lists! Both You can find in DL/Utilities

If You use the New Editor, then you should read the table of contents. Your last three threads would have been redundant

I forgot to include another question in this thread.

I remember from long ago that there was some kind of trick that you had to do if you wanted to put the character's name in front of what he or she is saying. How do you make that text yellow? Also ... I remember there was something about a colon ( : ) that was important. Does anyone know?

Yeah, but you didn't say how. You have to do this:

Name": Text

Right? You have to put a quotation mark somewhere.

I thought you had to put a quotation mark. Maybe ES fixed it.

Anyway, a more important question just came up. My scenario will not launch its triggers because there is an error with one trigger. (If one goes bad, they all go bad.) I'm pretty sure it's the "Play Dialog" triggers because I tried deleting them and retesting and the other triggers worked.

Anyway, tell me if I'm doing something wrong.

Text: Arvirid": Blah blah blah
Portrait: icon/hero g jason 64

That's what I'm supposed to do with Portrait, right? I put the file location? Or is the quotation mark the problem?

Should I click that wierd Abort button on "Play Dialog"?

You cannot use quotation marks in text-display triggers:

Arvirid": Blah blah blah"

If you really want to have quotation marks, there is a way around this. What you do is use two apostrophes instead: ''

They will look identical to one quotation mark .

As far as I know (And I know it pretty close to 100% sure), the "-mark is not needed. Just
Name: Blahblahblah.
That should work.

Your portrait+dialog trigger works fine as far as I can see.

Your triggers don't work, that sux . Just try refreshing your memmory: "When did I do the last playtest in which the triggers worked?". Then delete all triggers you made since that time one by one until you've found the bug.

but MIND THAT it can also be a COMBINATION of triggers. That was a pain in my ass I had a some time ago.

Good luck.

You're not answering my question.

I'm asking if you need a symbol to activate the speaker in yellow text.

And I am also asking if I am supposed to use the file path of the portrait.

Someone that has to do with the Play Dialog trigger is messing up the rest of my triggers--they will not play because of this. Therefore, which part of the Play Dialog trigger, that I have explained, is messing things up?

In the Portrait list stands:
icons/hero g jason icon 64
So and not differently it will works
And strings are not allowed.
The text before the : is yellow, after didnīt work with the color command. This works only in message texts in the objectives editor/chats:
color=\"r,g,b\">Own Text</color>
0,0,0 = black
1,1,1 = white

the answer was repeated 5 times to be exact.

Just type this in your "play dialog" trigger, run it and see! You do not need anything other than just a colon. I don't know where you got the apostrophy thing but I've been doing this for hundreds of triggers now.

Quote:

Name: Dialog.

I don't know how further can i answer your question, with any further question on this specific thing would be like asking "why is 1+1=2."

It doesn't please me that you kept ignoring other's helps and keep doing it your own way, while saying others are not answering the question. That's why it's not working.

Battlestar, omg wtf stfu plz thx. Ok?

You don't need to be an asshole, alright?

Anyway, it's not an apostrophe, it's a quotation mark. Back in AOM, a quotation mark was needed in order to seperate the speaker from the text.

Archaeopterix edited his reply as I was posting mine. Therefore, I did not see his edited version. The edited version DOES answer my question--it did not answer my question before, however.

Anyway, after I submitted my last reply I took it upon myself to venture into the editor and test everything out a few more times. I managed to answer my own questions. I want to thank reyk and everyone else for helping me out. (That color thingy will come in handy.)

As for you, battlestar, you aren't obligated to respond to my thread. So if you're going to be negative, don't reply, because I don't want to hear negative crap. No offense, but seriously... wtf.

Let me summarize everything that has been said nicely and clearly in perfect English for EVERYONE who may not understand to read.

1. IF you use the quotation marks in any trigger, there is a 90% change of them screwing up ALL your triggers. Quotation marks are NEVER EVER NEVER EVER USED in AoM in the Play Dialogue Trigger.

2. To separate the SPEAKER'S NAME from the text he is supposedly saying, enter this: SPEAKERSNAME: TEXT into the dialogue box. The colon is the triggering character that creates the yellow, separated name. NEVER EVER EVER use quotation marks!!!
*NOTE* THIS ONLY WORKS IN THE PLAY DIALOGUE TRIGGER.

3. Yes, you include the filepath icons/hero g blahblahblah when selecting an icon!

Thanks for the recap, Walrus.

battlestar, calm down. I didn't mean to offend to you. I just got a little threatened by your sarcasm. I hate sarcasm.
