I like the RPG scenario idea for AoM but the problem is that IMO most of the RPG scenarios are just so boring.
I can't understand why they even call them RPG maps.
IMO there are three things that are very important in RPG maps:
Story! A RPG map with no story is waste of time playing.
Battle system! It is just so boring walking around with some heroes and then kill small groups of monsters like in a normal supremacy game. I once tried to make a map where you controlled Odysseus and walked around on the map and then there were a trigger so then you were in the LOS of some centaurs they began walking after you and then they reached you the Odysseus on the map were converted to another player and an Odysseus in the top of the map (the battle arena) were converted to Player1 (you) and then there were also teleported some centaurs to the "battle arena". Then the centaurs and Odysseus in the top of the map were allied and then if you clicked on CentaurA the centaur were converted to another player for some seconds so Odysseus could fire an arrow. It would take longer time to make the triggers but it would make the battles a lot more fun! And I always hated that there were no RPG friendly God Powers (Bolt is an instant killer and spells like Great Hunt and Lightning Storm is useless or too powerful) so I thought of making a small Medusa/Chimera/Scorpion Man/Frost Giant (K+Shift). Then I would get spells like: Petrify/Firestorm/Poison/Frost just by using a teleport trigger so the MU quickly were teleported to the "Battle arena", stayed there for a few seconds so they had enough time to release their special attack, and then teleported back again.
And don't forget the level up system! Maybe you could change the heroes name to "Odysseus LV 1" and the you got 50 food(exp) your name would change to "Odysseus LV 2" and then you got the choice to move faster or have more HP or have more attack or faster regeneration or whatever.
And the last important thing for a RPG would be Quests/Puzzles! I would be too boring just to kill, kill kill. It is also fun then you have to go around to talk to people in the towns or then you are in a cave and have to click at some stones in the correct order or solve riddles.
And if possible don't just make one scenario. It is better to make it as a campaign because one big map will make it lag and if you make something wrong it is easier just to restart a scenario from a campaign than doing all the other quests and battles over again.
This are just my thoughts about how a RPG map should be.
