The Silmarillion
By Jrr Tolkien
Reproduced for Age of Mythology by SeNaTe_SnIpEr_

The Silmarilli were three perfect jewels, fashioned by Feanor, most gifted of the Elves. When the first Dark Lord, Morgoth, stole the jewels for his own ends, Feanor and his kindred took up arms and waged a long and terrible war to recover them. This is the story of their rebellion against the gods and the history of the heroic First Age of Middle-earth.

Includes:

The Valaquenta
The Ainulindale
Quenta Silmarillion

Scenarios Finished:

If this is done well it could work...but the storyline is one that is extremely hard to adapt (that is why there will be no film of the Silmarillion). Don't make a sloppy, half-baked excuse for a scenario that doesn't deserve the kilobytes on your hard drive (), spend some time on it, and like I said, it will work.
Btw by that I didn't mean anything else you might have made was sloppy etc. I just felt like saying something like that .

Well, at least this one isn't straight LOTR... completely different story, it is. Sounds good, if you can pull it off.

You'll be throwing the tale of Beren and Luthien in there, I assume... that's the one with the dragon, the runt-dwarf under the hill, killing his elf buddy, and putting Morgoth to sleep isn't it? I can't remember. That might be a few of the stories.

Yes, too many names in the book... lots with "e" and "l" in them. Quite confusing, especially considering they were mostly elves, thus immortal, thus living on through all the stories, continually compounding the confusion factor...

I don't find the concept confusing at all. And the names give it a background, and depth... plus they're all from a language entirely invented by Tolkien, quite an achievement in itself.

oh, no

i'm sorry that i have to say this but, dont do the silmarillion as an aom campagin, its too much of a literary work to transform into a campaign, and the greatness of the silmarillion is too much for the aom engine, i'm not saying that your a bad designer or anything, i just think that doin the silmarillion is a bad idea

i could do it on the aoe if i wanted it isnt to much for
any engine. Its how i convert the story which is a problem.
If it doesnt lives up to my standes i wont realese it. So far i think ive done a god job of converting the sotry into something i could use.

You don't have to follow the story all the time, make some exceptions somewere. Frankly, I would rather have a really good campaing for AoM which is pretty much (ish) based on the story than a hardly playable campaing which is 100% based on the story.

Good luck!

Of course the concept of the stories is simple to follow. I simply meant the sheer volume of characters and places, all with similar elven names, became confusing at times. I had to flip back in the story or to the appendices several times.

And at some points I just didn't know what the hell he was talking about... but I understood the story as a whole.

silmarilion is cool i have read it but the names are so confusing (who is who)? i have to keep refering to my "POCKET GUIDE TO TOLKIEN" every few pages.

But a campaign of it would be cool

Names aren't that bad.
Three names that are similar:
Fingolfin: half-brother of Feanor and brother of Finwe.
Fingon: son of Fingolfin
Finrod: son of Finarfin, brother of Fingolfin and half-brother of Feanor.

On the Petty Dwarf was not from the Beren/Luthien story, but from Turin Turambar. Also should be interesting to see in-game.

I've heard you have the ainudale done, well if it's good then congratulations but if it's not you have my vote to pass on it... way too difficult to explain in scenario.
