Ok, I have been designing for AoK for quite a while, but I have just bought AoM(not TT) and I need some tips. I want to make a Mines of Moria scn, so...how would I go about doing this? Please keep in mind that I am new to the AoM editor so don't flame me for being ignorant.

you should play the mine scenario in the campaign, and take ideas from that.

actually it's better to play through the entire campaign, it'll give you a much better idea of the objects and units in the editor, upgrades. Then you'll need a list of triggers, reyk's New Editor, and you'll be set to do maps.

Wait, all this is for the original AOM? Because I just saw what the AOM editor can do. I just cassually checked it out after playing a game of AOM and it seems COOL.

Frankly, buy the Titans expansion for the extra editor capabilities. I did; I didn't care about the Titans themselves (dang doofus-looking clods ).

Well, I would have TT, but it's not out for Mac. I'm guessing the New Editor isn't for Mac either.

You can make a great scenario with the original editor, but some things are a lot more hassle than in the new editor.

e.g. modifying units can be done by using the 'set tech status' effect in the original editor, but this takes ages (as opposed to the 'Modify protounit' trigger in the new editor)

Eyecandy and all is just about the same in the original editor.

Some things you can only do in the new editor, like change names, etc.

In summary, if you are truly a great scenario designer, it doesn't matter which editor you use. (look at 'sorcery' for example, that's with the original editor, and its great)

Anyway, I'm digressing from the point here. If you want to learn how to use the editor,

a)Check out other peoples scenarios.
b)Mess around with the editor yourself, and see what tricks you can find.
c)Look at the scenario design section, it has some very useful hints.

Good luck!

You can't change names with the old editor?! Crap! I guess my Balrog will have to stay a fire giant for now.

Anyway, does the new editor work without TT?
Does it work on Mac?
