Before I will share you my history and experiences in the design community, I will first tell you a little bit about me. My real name is Reindert Emmens and I was born on July 20 1987 in Heemskerk, The Netherlands. I had a pretty normal life. I went to school, played soccer on the streets with my friends and of course played computer-games. I played many games since the age of 6. Mainly 3D- and platform games, occasionally a RTS. In my life I have allways been creative. I was member of several hobby-clubs at young age. I also liked making levels for 3D-games like Heretic, Hexen and Doom 2 many years ago. Right now I am a student of Bio-Medical Sciences at the VU in Amsterdam. I like being a student, because it gives me a lot of freedom and all my subjects are in an area I like. In high-school, I had to endure subjects I didnt like: Maths, French, German, Economy. One of the subjects that I did like was Biology, so that was the area I choose to continue after high-school. Besides my study, I like doing stuff on computers, watching movies, soccer and just hanging out with friends. But how did I got myself into the whole designing world? It all started in 2000 or 2001. A friend of mine had bought Age of Empires 2. I liked the game so I bought the game + the expansion not long after I first whitnessed the game. Before I never spended much time on RTS’s, but Age of Empires 2 stayed in my interest very long (in fact, I still play it these days). Of course I noticed the editor as well. I made maps myself or with a friend: I would start building the map, after 5 minutes my friend would take over (while I went to a different room, so I wouldnt see what he was building). 5 minutes later, we would swap agin etc etc, untill the map was finished. It was fun I have been aware of the presence of Age of Mythology ever since it came out. I didn’t buy it yet because the computer we had in 2002 was not good enough to handle the game. On December 7 2004 (I dont know how I can remember these dates) I bought the Gold edition (original game + X-pack in one). I liked the game allmost at once. And I went into multiplayer much faster then I did with AoE2. Perhaps a little too fast: On my first multiplayer game (which was rated), I selected random major god and got Ra. I never played with Egyptians before and naturally I was completely flattend by my opponent, causing my rating to drop to 1580. I discoverd the advanced setup button later and played the scenarios which existed at the time. I knew how the AoE2 triggers worked, and since the AoM triggers are similair, it didn’t took long for me to tame the editor. I allways liked the Blood games of AoE2 so I wanted to make my own blood scenario. Halfway through December I started my first project: I regret to say, that Doom Lords RPG was the last project I ever finished. I started on a project named Hero Defence, but I lost interest in the map. I worked on a Doom Lords 2 + a cinematic that would tie both scenarios together, but the files became corrupted and I had to abandom them. We are in April now, and I was working on a project which I am sure was going to outrun the succes of Doom Lords RPG. That scenario was called So that sums out the most inportant things in my design life. But it will take a long time before you see the end of me. I intend to achieve even greater things when AoE3 comes out. Most serious designers for AoM are member of one design team/clan or another, I am not. That is different for AoE3, I am allready member of a AoE3 design clan. I cant tell you much about this clan, because the leader of the clan decided not to reveal its existence untill the game comes out, and I respect that. My biography ends here, I hope you enjoyed reading it Reinfire [This message has been edited by Reinfire (edited 07-30-2005 @ 10:49 AM).]
