dear sziggi, hi.
I playtested your scenario and I didn't think it was so hard as you say, even though I lost. My problem was that I didn't understand the rules so well and so didn't get to use the market -so no armour upgrades.
Comments:
First of all, the beginning cinematic was quite nice. In fact I've thought of making something like that myself, but I'd thought to place some mists also -in order to look like clouds at the same level as the "aerial place".
Second, there are 3 points you have to defend and you need to really watch for only the 2 of them.
1) It was easy to defend the TC from the single Polyphemous attacks. I created a priest and just run around it, while Polyphemous followed my priest and got killed by the TC's arrows.
2) The centre of gravity is the Citadel -where you have the Egyptian peltasts and there one would have to station perhaps Arkantos along with axemen and some priests to fend off the attacks mainly by Anubites. Arkantos with the axemen, with the support of the peltasts and priests, fighting under the umbrella of the healing spring, I believe are enough.
3) For the other citadel with the catapelts, one should use priests and spearmen to fend off the cavalry attacks mainly.
4) The Atlantean wall place with the 3 Siege Towers, could also be defended by some priests and axemen, against the Polyphemous attacks also.
But I don't understand why not sortie with the Siege Towers and instead use a force to guard them, as you say in the instructions?
5) That leaves another force of priests, the arcus heroes, and Ajax, boosted by axemen perhaps, in order to use as the strike group to take out the 3 Norse Temple areas that spawn the trouble (I guess that's their jump off area, don't know how the triggers work -it's my guess).
I would've been able to win -given time- had I been able to use the market and establish trade, so then I'd have the money to buy units and upgrades.
All in all, it is a pretty good scenario -the kind I like- B&D of sorts, but like I said I wasn't clear on what exactly the target was (the Turbines are the Kronos miracles?) and didn't work out the way to use the market.
Quick note: I see that you use again the idea of Shaba Ka, which is a strange and dangerous twist, cause you have to take the fight elsewhere from where you've downed them -lest they rise up to fight again. Pretty nice, cause if you don't move out from that area of fallen enemy heroes, they rise up and in the end, they will overcome your defences.
Edit: I hope you continue and finish it, cause I liked it ~as of course all your scenarios. I've DLed the Dragons Claw v_8 and I will also try it out, but during the weekend due to lack of time.
best regards
