Defend the fort (in the classical 3 vs 3 format):
1. Make sure that the attacker has unlimited forces, not just making a giant army and saying your finished.
2. Defenders must occupy a fortress that has good fall-back positions, at least 3 gates, and no less than 2 weakpoints (ex: a gap in the wall or a weak gate). Try not making a lot of empty space inside the fort.
3. Other important details:
A. The defenders army MUST be terminal. No units are allowed to be created, only certain defensive buildings. Being able to make increasingly larger armies gives the defender too much counter-attack power, destroying the purpose of the game. (Exception in F)
B. There must be some sort of timer that relates to when reinforcements arrive or the defenders have won. Usually it makes the game more interesting if you set the timer to destroy attacker's creation buildings, setting a sort of 180 situation were the attacker is pushed back into his/her camp and puts up a last defense. On that note, make sure to add some defensive structures in the attacker's camp.
C. Try not making a map were the defender automatically wins after the timer expires. To make it more interesting and to balance out the outcome, make a medium-sized reinforcement army come at the end for the defenders, but not infinite, as to give the attacker a fighting chance to turn the tide again.
D. Archers have to make up at least 2/3s of the defender's fighting force. Make sure to add at least 2 regular heros and 1 superhero (not invincible though) to each defender's army. For the defenders, try to follow this model:
For every:
50 Archers
Have:
20 militia
15 regular infantry
10 special infantry
4 Elite units (In the case of helms deep, the royal guard)
1 general (kinda like a regular hero)
E. Try not making COMs the attackers. They dont have human tactics, thus making the game boring. Very boring.
F. Make sure that you have a good counter-attack force for the defenders to use (kinda like shock cavalry, about 10 or so), but dont overdo it.
G. Keep the game itself simple. Dont go adding eyecandy just cause you want to. Add eyecandy were people will notice it, like next to the main gate or inside the fortess at important bottlenecks.
H. Have FUN. Dont make something you yourslef wont enjoy.
