AoMH isn't a story factory/request page. It's hard to say: 'Well, I want this done and this done. Do this first, and I want it done soon', you need to think of some sort of a baseline for the story yourself. Also, you want to decide: What makes your RPG unique?
Inventive Bosses?
Levelling/Weapons System?
Oh, and I always thought Polaris would make a good hero...:P

you can't go wrong with having players select their own hero. The only problem with that is it requires a bit more work, but its fairly easy to set up.

I suggest that you make a RPG with four players. This reduces lag, and helps some otherwise unplayable online triggers work.
I definitly like the choose your own hero idea, that seems fun.
As for eyecandy, do what you think looks good, then have someone edit it and review your work.
If youre making an rpg do no more than 5 people and 2-3 npcs and dont make the map over 500-500 or you're gonna blow up in lag.

i dissagree with you about the lagg, make it as big as you want, but do not let more then 300 units at a time be on the map have spawnign triggers, it works realy well.

how about make no guys on the map just cinimatic blocks(excluding bosses for size reasons)so theres no lag and at the start it changes those to human units then once you kill the first boss it changes all the units in the next area it would take alot more work but it would be alot better! also you could make extra units spawn for higher difficultys. Tell me what you guys think of this.
PS i still can think of a story.also i sorta have a story but its for a single-player Rpg it would be called
~The Lone Wanderer~
You start out as a spearman that is a traveling man his spear he uses to defend himself on his longer journeys but one day he has a horrific !Nightmare! That he sees in it, agony, pain, and death. He supposes this was a sign.So he thinks he should travel to the nearby town and talk to the High Priest.

To much units isn't the problem, it is the fact some people can't use triggers correctly.
Yes, periods and smileys are the same for me No matter what you say

@ Ag0nyYnoga
A spearmen is a bad chioce of unit for an rpg, as it can be cyclops-thrown argus-dissolved, minotaur-gored, etc.
I suggest a hero
Alot of the Greek heros are very unique characters.
