This is a new campaign I am working on. I just finished the first level last night. It is only a rough outline right now, so things will change.

In this campaign, you will play as various city states of ancient Greece. The first level you start out as Athens, and you have a HUGE army to deal with a spartan town, which you intend to capture. They have a huge defense, and you have a huge offens. After you capture it, you will have to deal with an army stationed behind a wall, near the city, and defend yourself from spartan renforcements. You get a large amount of Colosi in the beginning. That is the biggest army you get the entire game. The other levels are:

2: you play as athens again and attack sparta herself.

3: you play as Sparta and drive back the Athenians.

4: you play as Corinth and kill the remaining Athenian army, as they return home.

5: as Sparta, you begin your attack on athens.

6: as sparta again, you continue your attack on athens.

7: as athens, you defeat the spartans.

8: as sparta, you take your beaen troops, and attack athens ally, Mycenae.

more to come (12 total)

As you can see, there is no obvious plot, but I have one in mind. but I just stink at cimmanetics, so who knows.

The campaign has sparta as an advanced militay nation, Athens as an advanced ecinocly nation, and corinth as a not good, not bad, nation. The first level will probably be the worst.

The game is for regular AoM

Sorry about the irrelevant spam like post, but IMO the Silver Collosus is the ugliest unit in the game, to the extent that I will research it's golden upgrade just so I don't have to look at it =P

This sounds good, but try to keep lag to a minimum.

I suggest looking through the eye candy thread for some inspiration from the high standard of work.

I wish you good luck, and don't try to finish this too quickly.

I wouldn't think accuracy would be a problem.

Most people don't know much about Ancient Athens anyway, so it would be easy for him to just design his own.

A somewhat accurate version would be nice though, I agree, and if he want's to he'll be able to find maps on google images.

Actualy, i was wondering about Spartas layout. I mean geographicaly wise. That is quite hard to find on google. And I dont think silver colossi are ugly. They look fine. gold isnt my color anyways. And bronze is just a stupid name. But its a cool name.

But aside from that, I found plenty of athens maps. Now for every other city state! Google!

I went to google and found this:

"Sparta a beautiful town near the river Evrotas, located in the centre of the Peloponnese in southern Greece, is the capital of the prefecture of Lakonia. SPARTA ( known in Greek as Sparti) has a history which dates back to the Neolithic period, at least 3,000 years before Christ.
Even in its most prosperous days, it was merely a group of five villages with simple houses and a few public buildings. The passes leading into the valley of the Evrótas were easily defended, and Sparta had no walls until the end of the 4th century BC."

I havent found any maps though.

the trickiest part is making the parthenon, but i think that if you enlarge a temple to roof a SPCwonder to a player following zeus(since a statue of zeus was in there) and use enlarged columns to fill in the front.

Silver Collosus is a fairly good name, I'm not saying that, I'm just saying the silver collosus in AOM, in my opinion, is quite ugly.

Mine is more the general map design with locations of things.. Individual maps will need to be found to make the location's life-like.
