= means exactly whatever variable you put in, < in less than the variable you put in, but not the variable, and > is the exact opposite(I could be getting them mixed up, =< is less than or equal to, so it could the variable or less than the variable...yeah I make no sense, it's hard for me to explain

it would activate the effect when the unit got at least 5 of the area

it would activate the effect when the unit got to exactly the 5 from the area, if it was 6 and up or 4 and below from the area it would not activate

it would activate the effect when the unit got at least 4 from the area, but not 5
