If AoT can have a Choice Dialog, why not Vanilla? After all, it's only something that's part of the User Interface.
This is the first window. I think I'll do more with several buttons and radius selections too, with customizable buttons name. Then I'll port it to AoT too. The only downfalls to this is that it implies a modding UI a file, and also there is going to be a limited set of times you can invoke windows like this..
The first one can be overcome if distributed on the Fan Patch. As for the second.. Not much. . Anyways, discuss at will. . -invent00r
I would love that feature to be working AoM. Is this possible using in RM with this? I assume we will have to be using your trigger loader script to invoke that window in AoM?
Can the amount of button be changed dynamically during in gameplay? I would like to go up to 5 button sometimes.

My work always starts in Vanilla, and it's then later on expanded to AoT. .
I've successfully brought Vanilla much closer to AoT already.. Specially with QVs. This is just another step to Vanilla Supremacy. .
@ rjs23 Yes, RM will indeed be able to use this as far triggers are concerned. It will naturally require the Trigger Loader and some script I'll write too..
The amount of buttons is yet for me to do.. I'll do several gadgets, which will hold different amount of buttons.. I've to play with Gadgets type vs Number of Re-use, while still trying to do keep the file size reasonably low - under 1 megabyte. .
Four buttons are too much tho.. For that, I'm thinking of a radius solution that would probably work for many choices (I'd simply hide the unnecessary\undefined radius boxes). -invent00r
What did you use? Camera tracks with no timer console command to fire event triggers?
Though would would you customize the text of the UI?
Oh and will it work online?

Of course I'll use camera tracks. I've on my debugger tool. Have you tried it out yet? .
The tricky part is displaying the text, but I've found a way. I'll keep it secret untill I publish this. . It's not going to work online mainly because I don't want to yet. I'm working on a plataform to easily send QVs to other players. Fan Patch only. Boy I'm having fun doing UI editing. . -invent00r
Ahhh, so by multiple buttons it will be like Multiple choice dialouge which I requested in the Trigger request thread, bu this is more complicated it has radius'.

Talking out this area I did something interesting. I made a game where you hold "control+alt+shift+l" and it deploys a random unit for the player that did it! A similar system can be used for online choice dialog.
To do it under the command result make it select a unit and kill it using the delete unit under the delete button command.
Then have a trigger detecting it has died and then change the unit to an argus, dammage it -100% and then change back to the original unit to bring it back to life. Attach any effects you want and you have an online working choice dialog that you can use unlimited times! The delete part is what syncs it all together. The main problem is the camera moving. That could be fixed using camera tracks.
I managed to make a map where players enter a certain hotkey combination and a random unit deploys on the map for them!

I think he means radio buttons... Those round buttons that only select you 1 thing from a list.
Wow, I never thought that I would actually know something before nottud did... it's actually not all that satisfying ~ Steak

@ JDmino Mythic_Freak speaks the truth.
@ nottud That system is not as good as the system I implemented on Online Editor Project, which was a few months ago. By that time you're still talking about a normal RPG-like tables.. Right now your solutions implies the death of a unit, loss of selection, only sending a boolean - true or false -, and finally Damage % which is not present on Vanilla (Yet!).
I've continued the work since then, and I've good ways to sync games (with no camera flicker). Using the Fan Patch will only allow me more freedom as I can use invisible units. I can sync a variable no matter its size. You'll see how exactly when it goes public. . If all goes well, it will be as simple as using a trigger named Synchronize Quest Var. -invent00r
There are lots of invisible units already. I use them all the time. Underbush, fern, blood gore, etc. There are tons of units with no animations at all that can be used.

They do.
I fail to see how they relate to any of this, or it's use in the middle of all this. -invent00r

For the purpose of encoding\sending variables.
You have plenty more invisible units like revealers for example or whatever. It doesn't matter, none of them will do better or as good or even do anything for the purpose we were supposedly discussing. -invent00r
