Bunno's Guide to making Peristyles/Courtyards
This is a fairly simple and easy way to create nice eyecandy. There are many ways and variations, but I'll just tell you the basics. Bear with me, I have not pictures.
1. Create a small rectangle or square of berry bushes. 2. (Optional) Delete every other berry bush except for the corner ones to let units through. (Note: Large units, such as seige towers and war elephants still will not be able to walk through. Stick with infantry.) 3. (Can't think of the name. help would be nice.) Create a trigger to turn all of the berry bushes into columns.
And that's your courtyard!
Tip: You can change around the terrain for better effects. And it doesn't have to just be a peristyle/courtyard, it could be a wall (with Black Rock underneath. Units can still "squeeze" through the columns.)

Sorry, but I don't really get the point, you should always add screenshots for an eyecandy guide...

Well, you could also just use the "align" function already in the editor.
Sometimes I like to take screenshots. But only sometimes.

They don't have the buttons for that IIRC ~ Khan

If you could go more in-depth with detail and possibly include a screenshot of the end result that's probably boost the effectiveness of the guide.
I never really thought about aligning things to the grid like that, though.

Maybe lengthen the description of how to do this and put some screenshots and you got yourself a easy way for new people to learn how to allign objects directly to the grid . Does this website have an editor tips section? Seems like it would be a good addition for things that are helpful but dont neccesarily qualify as a guide.
Yeebaagooon might be able to harness enough 47 energy to do something when he gets back.

The way you have explained or the method you use is completely unnecessary. Just use hand-eye coordination to create alignment, it also saves a lot of time. ;\

If you need exact allignment, this is the way to do it. Going by eye on measurements is never a good idea!

You can also view the terrain grid for lining things up by eye, if aligning to the grid like a bush doesn't suit the situation for whatever reason.
You can also use triggers and math like this but that's quite a different application.
You can also make cool walls by making a "1" brush max elevation of all the bushes, and adding a cliff.
I still don't know how to change the column owner instead of Gaia, and that would be nice if omeone figured it out. (Still reinstalling after I got a buggy mod )
You don't have to do thins with just columns. You can do any object, but make sure you add a "Unit Heading" effect. The berry bushes, like any other unit you convert, besides Cinematic Blocks, have a randomized unit heading position.
You can do this "snap to grid" trick with units, as well, to make cool army formations.

Use the convert effect. Or change units n area: From player 0 to 1 from berry bush to column
Currently working on: A pirate thing. Move the ship with the WASD keys, shoot with Q and E, stop with R. I need some help with bugged conditions and effects or other things I can't do. So hurry to the question/trigger thread, because there's probably a question I asked
