To accomplish great things, we must dream as well as act.
A.F.

What would happen to our dreams if we decide to live only for reality ? Where would be the masterpieces of our souls if we abandon our imagination ? Where would we be without these extraordinary worlds ? I am proud to present you my latest work, probably the last map of my Age of Myhtology career. A map called Children of Memories, a Multiplayer Online Role Play Game precisely. A huge project that would surely take me months of work. Something that, I hope, will change the future of AoM games and draw the minds of youger players. Working together to accomplish the destiny of 6 heroes and discover the secret of Age of Memories. Learn to live with others, with their weaknesses, their ambitions, their strengths. Evolve with strangers in order to accomplish a mystical task. This is the Age of Memories. A dream for some, a godsend for others...

Storyline
Dropped into an unknown world after choosing your rank, you are now engaged into an epic quest that will draw your future. Will you join the Imperial Army and help them finding what's going on all over the world or leave them and fight as a lonely hero against other players ? You choose !

You are a mercenary group sent by the Capitolcity, in charge of an investigation on the current barbarians attacks in the southern part of the world. Early, you will learn that the intrigue isn't that simple and some magic forces are behind this. 6 heroes, 6 different destinies. Will you decide to team up to fight your opponents and figure out what's going on in the world or fight all alone against random enemies that will face your path ? You choose !

The future depends of what you do and you can go everywhere... Anytime...

This RPG is based on a new gameplay of a free roaming moving around the world. You walk across the lands without being stopped by walls or inconsistent objects unless you have to unlock some areas. Everything is free, but for now, there is just a Beta Version and only 1/4 of the game is made. For the trailer, here is some of the settings I triggered for this game :

  • Leveling and experiment : An infinite leveling with readable statistics that inform you on how much kills you need to have till the next level and how level you are.
  • Heroes and Rank : Not less than 16 Heroes divided into 4 ranks can be choosen. Figthers, Builders, Magus or Furtives heroes, everyone having their own characteristic.
  • Upgrading System : Three different ways to upgrade your hero. The first by reaching a level, the second by buying improvments near a trader, and the last by finding secrets that are hidden all over the map.
  • Respawning Creatures : The enemies respawn after awhile when you have cleared all the area. When it happens, they respawn stronger to adapt to any level you've won.
  • Talking NPC : The NPC are talking to you when you go near them with the chatbox system. They can give you quests, rumors about the countries and reward you if a quest is done.
  • Abilities : All the heroes have their own abilities. Some of them are weak at certain skills while they are stronger to other. It's up to you to know how to use your hero to full capacity. They also get regulary specific god powers that all have differents effects.
  • Eyecandy : Full detaileds lands with a good use of all the terrain types able to pick. Moreover, the eycandy will be a part of the gameplay itself.

Sounds interesting. I like the free-roaming concept. As for your black background, you put the entire showcase in a (DIV) tag but you cannot set the background color because you cannot use the STYLE attribute in these forums. I recommend replacing that first/last DIV a table as follows:

...begninning table breaking html here...

<table width=100% bgcolor=(any color you want)><tr><td>

...showcase content here...

</td></tr></table>

....restore table breaking html here....

so set that bgcolor attribute in the table tag and you're good to go.

Now, all the heroes abilities work for player 1. I just have to copy it for player 2 to 6 and also copy the hero selecting and upgrade system then it will finally work Online for the Beta Test Version. I updated the showcase and added some explanations about the Fighters.

Barbarian
The Barbarian is a strong unit. They have no education but have a highly developed sense of fighting. They like the fight in melee and can sometimes go into a berserker rage which increases their combat capabilities.
Benefit : Hitpoints / Attack / Hack Armor
Flaw : They have no sens of magic
Ability : Berserker Rage

Knight
The Knight is an ingenious warrior. They They are noble and civilized combatants. They know the art of doing war and may call a strategic support. Sometimes, they can convert enemies to a neutral side.
Benefit : Attack / Speed
Flaw : Hack Armor / Pierce Armor
Ability : Army Support / Neutralisation Enemies

Rogue
The Rogue is an opportunistic warrior. They develop a sense of haggling and rely on their cunning to get out of the biggest problems.
Benefit : Standard
Flaw : Standard
Ability : Regular Incoming Gold

Brute
The Brute is a stupid but strong hero. They have no brains and are born only to fight. They have no knowledge of magic and use their own physical abilities. Brutal and ignorant, they rush like animals.
Benefit : Hitpoints / Attack / Hack Armor / Crush Armor
Flaw : Speed
Ability : None

@ Majic Dodo : Thanks, I will surely needs luck even if for now all is working good

@ Elrich : I did the div tag (okay, it's called a tag, not a banner -_-'), because all the text were in the center for no reason. Thanks for your help but I think I'll keep the black background color anyways.

@ BSU_DoLhades : Yep ! This concept is going to be the future of RPG's. But I downloaded your map and it was like nothing were free at the begining (a path in the forest if I remember well). But... I dunno, maybe am I wrong, maybe will you improve it later.

the start isnt free, you have to get to a military base as compulsory, there you get optional missions which you can achieve by sea plus a primary one, you can explore the underworld from here or you can go and wreck a pirate base, the pirate base will spawn units and then you have completed there (the underworld bit will be a primary mission later on, but that bit will not be accessible to start as its the final mission) then you must fight to kill a wolf, once you slay him you can access the camps shop (not triggered yet) then you continue down the path to another two bosses, you slay them and run, because a titan will appear, then you are sent elsewhere, to a mining camp (this will have another 3 optional areas) this is the place with a suprising twist... then you are told to go to corinth itself, there is an optional missions on the way, here there is alot to explore and there will be a PILE of extra missions, one unlocks use of the corinthian canal. Here you must accomplish a few missions, the first you must kill theris, there are 3 optional paths down the same route, then you must find 3 relics in a darkened labyrinth, then bring them to a temple, there will be a path to a small army camp here, and the final mission you find an entrance to the underworld and overhear the enemy, you return to the first base and you take a ship into the underworld, where you HAVE to kill the enemy, then the rest is secret, the last bit is not triggerred yet but is almost finished on the map!

now do you believe its free? :P

After several houres working on the map, I finally finished the upgrading system, it works for all the players. But let me tell you how it works in detail (I'll update the thread later by editing it and adding a fast explanation about the upgrading system.

After killing some protounits in the map, you reach a level. This reaching allow you to use an old man in the upgrade shop and you can pick one of the 8 skills to upgrade. They all are different for all the heroes and you must be carefull when you pick an upgrade (for example, taking speed upgrade with the Brute will be pointless because Brute slowly levels up in this skill). Each hero has his own benefits and flaws. If you take an upgrade that correspond to your flaw, you will levels up higher than other heroes. In the following table, improvements are arranged in ascending order, from lowest (flaw) to highest (benefit), with stantard in the middle.

To reach the second level, you have to kill 5 units. And to reach the others levels, you have to kill previous_level+1 unit. Mathematical operation copied from Chose your Hero map because I think this is a good system. Instead of taking Guardian, I took Athenas. Athena has 5 hitpoints and 1 attack hack. When you kill a protounit, Athena lose 1 HP. When she's dead, she respawn with previous_HP+1 and full life, and she gains a hand attack hack point. You'll understand : Attack is your level, and Hitpoints is your experiment (number of unit needed to kill before reaching the next level). Actually, I copied this, but made the triggers myself and worked on it because I made it a bit different.

... blah blah blah. Tasterix, stop talking, show us the shop !

Here is the table :

Upgrading System
  • Hack Armor : +3/+4/+5 basic hack armor
  • Pierce Armor : +3/+4/+5 basic pierce armor
  • Strength : +2/+3/+5 hand attack hack or ranged attack pierce
  • Bravery : Bonus against bosses (+ bonus against myth if adept)
  • Health : +30/+50/+75 (+ higher heal rates for healers)
  • Athletics : +0.17/+0.20/+0.24 basic speed
  • Accuracy : +1 LOS for everyone / +1/+2/+3 arrows
  • Engineering : +3 crush attack for everyone / +5 tower/artillery attack

@ BSU_DoLhades : Actually, rival (), I call this a fake free roaming moving system because every place you go, you still have to follow a line. By the way, I have to admit that my map isn't different from yours because if you start, for example, by the West of the village, you have to defeat some strong giants and kill a boss so if you don't have experiment first (by this way, upgrades), you can't really reach it. But still can try. See ?

At the begining, still talking about my map, players can decide to explore randomly without knowing where they go and can meet stronger units first before weaker ones. It often happens in RPG when you don't really know the game. Remember when you played Morrowind, if you played it, and when you went to the middle of the map. You were free, yeah, sure, but because you were just level 1, you just went to an inevitable death. And this is free moving system. Going everywhere without knowing of what you could meet, then finally understand that the only way to reach the strongest part is to improve your stats ^^

But I saw you triggering work and I have to say : Congratulations, this is a good job you did. A only question comes to my mind when I look the teleporting trigger. Wouldn't it OoS the game if you play it online ?

Edit : And Upgrading skill system isn't the only way to improve your heroes stats. Because you will get 12 Gold for each kill and I'll add some random shops in the village that allows you to improve your skills (healing rates, armors, hitpoints, number of projectiles, upgrading secondary units stats for those who have it, ect). And also some random secret statues that gives you secret upgrades

I added and developed the magus ranks and their 4 specifics heroes. You can see the Sorcerer, the Healer, the Witchhunter and the Spellsword. Eh... Lot of people came here till the last update damn it I missed it ^^. Well for those who just came back here let me tell you what I added in the showcase :
- Explanations about Builders heroes.
- Explanations about the Furtives heroes.
- Map trailer of the Beta Version.

And for everyone who are interested about the map triggering, I added a few things in the map and still am working on everything :
- Slow moving Tower Mirror for the Experts. Yeah, I'm using it, so what ?
- When you are Expert or Engineer, taking the Engineering upgrading skill will allow you to build an other new tower.

- Still have to figure out how in 2 triggers you can do 2 differents chat from the NPC, by using the "Distant to Unit" condition and [X] OR picked because they are 6 heroes. If someone have an idea on how I can do that (maybe did I start wrong with the trigger... I dunno, still trying it by the way).

- Lifespan added for healing Servant and Tower Mirror. Still a lifetime of 5 mins, it's enough to fully use them in the game ^^

- Player 8 (the bad guys) is disabled. But player 7 (the imperial guards) is active and I don't want to take care about A.I. so I just put a trigger that makes the guards moving to their initial location because when you play online they all randomly move to the bottom corner. I know, it's kinda Rock'n'Roll but it's the only thing I found. xD

- All the Abilities triggers for heroes are copied, now, I just have to adapt them to their respective players

@ Jack D P : This also can be played in Single Player scenario but it was made for Multiplayer. Naturally the gameplay will be a bit harder but setting the beginners difficulty will be possible. I'm using this difficulty to playtest the map and actually it is easy for every hero. The fact is that without a healer with you, you always have to get back to the village to be healed, near the statue. But you'll see when you'll play the Beta Version.

By the way, thanks everyone for your encouragements, I hope I will finish the Beta Version soon so we could see together what I could change in the heroes abilities. I'm trying to make it balanced for every heroes... But, as you can imagine, with 16 differents gameplay, it's a little hard...

Game looks amazing dude. I particularly like the upgrade system. Bravery is pretty ingenious vs bosses. If you ever need more attributes you can check my lost temple scenario aka "at26" I never finished because it has a lot of good ones. I used some cool concepts too like whenever a player made a decision on something they would gain or lose attributes. Like if players chose to eat berries that they don't know they get Bravery but lose Intelligence and if players had a certain level of intelligence they would make smarter decisions in cinematics etc.
