Played the game since I was a little kid, only recently began using the editor for real, so I'm quite new to all this.
There's this I assume really basic thing I want but I've been looking at some threads and most threads just escalate to people hating on eachother so I thought let's make a useful thread about this.

I want something pretty straightforward. I want to use it in LAN games with my two brothers. The idea is, when someone pics up a relic, a cyclops spawns behind them and begins attacking them. I've tried using Units in Area with Army Deploy but is this even possible? Do I have to download some specific trigger somewhere? Do I have to sacrifice a child to the AOM editor gods?

For a specific unit I'd do it like that:


Place Relic
Place Cinematic Block on top of relic
Place Cinematic Block of the Cyclops Player where you want the Cyclops to be


Trigger: High Priority, Active, NOT Loop, NOT Run Immediately

Condition:
Distance to Unit (or sth like that) of Relic and Relic-Block > 1

Effect:
Change Unit Type of the other Cinematic Block to Cyclops

Hold up Izalith, I cheered too early, I've probably made some mistake, even though I followed your instructions. The Cyclops doens't appear when the unit picks up the relic and walks away. I'll type out what I did.

For Triggers I did active activated, loop and run immediately off. Priority is high.

For Conditions I did Distance to Unit. Source unit I chose the Red Cinematic block right upon the relic. For Target unit I chose the relic. Operator ==. Distance I used 1.

Effects I used another red cinematic block on the place where I wanted to cyclops to appear, selected it as the unit I was gonna use and for ProtoUnit I used Cyclops.

I tried the whole thing with the condition as 'always' and the Cyclops did spawn, so we can assume that the problem lies within the conditions.

So what went wrong :/

The Operator == is wrong. It fires only if the relic is exactly at a distance of 1 from the cinematic block, which is very unlikely to happen. Though it does happen for a frame or so the trigger might miss it.

Use the Operator >= 1 so that the trigger has a broader chance to react.
