I think thiss may have been addressed before, or maybe I'm thinking of EEH...

It would be great to have a brush size for unit placement. It has always been a pain in past RTS editors to create massed starting armies. Say I wan't to make a scenario based on a pitched battle. I want 100 spearmen to face off against 75 hoplites, and various supporting units. In past editors this would take 175+ clicks, more if you missplaced a unit. I was thinking that a brush size for unit creation would speed up the process. Has this been implemented? If not, why? If it has, how?

Please don't do what SSSI did and say to use triggers. I try to minimize trigger usage, and they don't let you get a grasp of scale, or placement.

Great idea. I like it.

There actually is a copy function in the AOK scenario builder so you could actually place down 25 units and you owuld drag and copy then you would just click where you wanted to paste all the men, thus reducing clicking. This will also copy the terrain and any other features of the copied area. I am pretty sure this is under the map file or section of the scenario builder.

I don't like it.

One small mistake from the brush, and you've got a guy standing where he isn't supposed to be.

Just use triggers.

If you can't use triggers, don't make scenarios. It's that simple.

You want fries with that?

It's not that I can't make triggers, its just that you don't get instant feedback from triggers. you don't get to see the army on the map without testing it. What if you want the army at the end of the scenario?

Um, did you not read what I said? I can use triggers. It's just that I don't know if it doesn't look right w/o stesting it. I can't see the final product when I need to see it.

It takes some people longer than others, Archer...

I like the idea of a brush size for units, however, I think there should only be three options, such as 1x1, 2x2, and 3x3. None of this 8x8 like you could do with terrain placement (at least in AoK).

And for the rest who prefer triggers, why tell him this is a bad idea if it isn't? Sure, you may prefer triggers, but other people don't. The world won't end if you have an extra option that you may not use.

Thanks Gawain! Although I do disagree with you on the only having 3 sizes. Like you said; why set limits, because it's just "an extra option that you may not use."

Ah, the irony..

But placing large amounts of soldiers could be done by dragging the mouse while holding down the button (like terrain). Thus, you wouldn't really need the larger sizes. Anyways, we'll see what it's like when the game comes out.

I'd like to say this is a great idea. But IMHO an 8x8 option is not needed. I don't think anyone will ever need that many units.

Go slowly, and you may be able to achieve a straight line

j/k...

But really tho, how many times will you make an army with lines eight deep? 8x8 is already 64 units, and that is a heck of an army for AoM.

You forget Eggies. Say I want a full army of axemen. 128 axemen is possible with 4-5 settlements, which is easy in team games and scenarios.
