I'm a little curious as to what everyone's favourite culture is. As a designer, which of the three cultures do you find most fascinating and see yourself designing with? As a scenario player, do you have a preference for one of the cultures over the others?

If I will ever design, I think I would go for the Egyptian and the Greeks, because I know more about them, and it's easier to find information on them. I would definitely play scenarios of all three cultures. They're all interesting.

Vikings were part of the Norse tradition, silly . Why on earth did I have a feeling someone would say that?

I take it that your favourite culture is the Norse . How about the Greek and Egyptian - will you design/play a scenario that has one of these cultures?

To be perfectly honest, I wont be designing anything historical anytime soon. I probaly will create a really nice fantasy scenario, I mean with those strange yet cool looking myth units and all those future gaia items, and (what I hope) the power to make GPs through triggers.

Thankfully, where I live, few are interested in computers, so AOM won't be sold out(hopefully).

Well, the game isn't about history anyway... Age of Mythology . I suppose that designers can make a non-myth scenario, but I think that would be a waste of many of the nice features in AoM, such as god powers and mythological units .

DIE NORSE AND GREEK. go egyptians! I had this thought that all multiplayer senarios should have a 3 versions 1 with greek 1 egypt and 1 norse. it would make it all more balenced

What I just said is a lie.

From what I have seen/heard, norse and egyptians seem good.

I, too, will probably design fantasy scenarios as well though. You are not limited to what really did happen, and you don't have to spend boring hours digging through history books to make sure your scenario is historically correct.

Each god's "bonus" (eg : isis monuments make that god important to a designer.

But I prefer the Greeks

I know the greek mythology the best, and I have a feeling that you will see their MUs the most in secnarios, for they are more 'monsterish' then other civs (albiet the giants would be scary).

But I like eggy the most

I will probably mix 2 cultures. It will make a nice storyline for me. It will be easier for me to work on it.

the norse have good looking MU's too, like fire giants. That would make for a neat boss in a RPG campaign...

I'll probably use mostly Greek and some Norse in my FM scenario (Code named "Final Mythology"). I like Egyptians a lot too, but I don't think they'll work out to well for what I have planned.

I love Egyptians. Even though ES recommends to play Greek first and get the game play-atmosphere I played Egyptians first, and after a while I was so used to it that I couldnt play Greek or Norse well.
It can change though after I played the actual game not alpah since Es is changing stuffs

Norse

"Especially awe-inspiring is the fact that any single brain is made up of atoms that were forged in the hearts of countless stars billions of years ago... These atoms now form a conglomerate – your brain – that can not only ponder the very stars that gave it birth but can also think about its own ability to think and wonder about its own ability to wonder. With the arrival of humans…the universe has suddenly become conscious of itself. This, truly, is the greatest mystery of all." - Rama
