I'm having the same problem. I've tried setting the computer players at the default setting, also CPU, and have tried several different AI files (yes, I did press ENTER after specifying which AI file), but the computer players still refuse to do anything. The editor in both AoE and AoK didn't seem to have this problem. I get the feeling that the editor in this game needs some major reprogramming.

I'm not sure, but I think the AI's need a town center to work?

Sheeme10 is right, but there are other things to check if you make a map, don't place greek roads under an Egyption town center, or vise versa, at least i think thats a problem I did it early messing with the editor.
as far as i could tell that was one reason those units would not take off. I finally removed the greek roads and Voila! they took off.
Just a Thought to keep in mind If u have set the AI default, and they don't get moving. look for mixed up units, buildings, or terrain.

OK, got it working now. Seems that the you have to use the default AI. None of the others seem to work.

I've also experienced difficulty with any AI file other than the default for some reason. Not sure if they actually execute the behavior yet--they continue to do things but there is a strange error message at beginning of playtesting.
