You can use AOMed to convert .brg files to .3ds files, and then import them into gmax (File->Import rather than File->Open). You can then use the MAXscript menu to run the brg_import.ms script so that all the textures and things show up correctly on the imported model.

Use brg_export.ms (remember to remove all the "out fs" and "fs" stuff), open the listener window by pressing F11, and copy it into a text file. Save the text file with a .3dx extension, and use AOMed to convert back to brg. Place brg in [AoM folder]\models, name it the same as an existing brg to replace it, and run AoM. If all goes well, you should have your model.
