I can't use AOMED to reconvert 3dx files to BRG files. It just doesn't work. It says

Sounds like there’s a problem with the 3dx. If you are cutting and pasting you have to be careful to get every bit of code. With gmax you can only cut a few lines at a time but I use 3ds max 6 now so I don't know if it's changed. If you are copying and pasting I suggest you cut instead so you know where your at with the code in the maxscript listener window. If your using the gmax exporter it could be that you didn't place the curser at the very start of the listener text. I hope any of this helps.
Scorpion's right. Before you use the exporter for Gmax, you must place the cursor in the listening window at the begining of the test. Then, it reads from there and exports as a 3DX.
Practice safe foruming by not posting tired. On my todo list of mods (meaning stuff I really want to do but can't get around to yet):
Editor Modpack of some sort Project Excelsior Always keep in mind, all my posts are a stream of consciousness, so don't take anything I say too literally.
Also, I don't know if this applies in this situation, but from what I understand there are certain models that just won't convert no matter what you do. My experience to date with gMAX and modding AoM is limited, but it seems that I've run into this when attempting to mod non-player units. For example, Gaia units, vegetation, some buildings, etc. I haven't found a consistent pattern to which models will convert and which won't, but that's been my observation to date.
Out of curiosity, which model are you attempting to mod or what model is your new mod based on?

well there are few models that wont work but use abit of anitiative - merge it to another with 3ds max or just make a new one
and your exporting problem - we have all been through this. it is simple.
run export.ms
press F11 on the key bord put the cursor at the begining
open up the gmax expoter program
type in the name and press save.
then convert and you should be fine. If not there are 2 posibilities
you a soooooo poor at following simple steps
or it is a ineditable model

I got a similar message from the AoMED and the cause was pointing in to the wrong original .BRG file, when converting it from 3dx to brg format.
