It's very easy, skystrider.
1) Import the model you want to attach to another model. Save it as a gmax file.
2) Import the model you want the first model attached to.
3) Merge the gmax file with the first model.
4) Delete the Mirror modifiers of both models.
5) Attach them. In the attach options window chose the default options, which are the first option and the small square at the bottom un-ticked.
6) Make a texture that combines both models' textures.
7) Select all the polygons of the model you attached (the one that is in the gmax file), and apply it the new material.
8) Use the UVW Unwrap modifier to adjust both models' UVWs to the new texture. You can do it easily by selecting the ID at the bottom of the UVW Unwrap window.
9) Now apply the WHOLE model the multimaterial.
10) The model is finished! Now you have to animate it, export it, maybe add it the Mirror modifier again, etcetera.
I STRONGLY recommend you to save the completed model as a gmax file when you're done, so if the material, for some reason, is screwed, you don't have to do all the thing again...
May teh Force be with you...
