There are .BMP images in your "C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Age of Mythology" folder called "loadingx..." and "splashx" if you to edit/replace those files with .BMP's of your own, then that would be your new loading and initializing screen. As with all the other game files, if you wanted to change the loading/initailizing screen for Vanilla AoM, then change the .BMP's with TT's names, but without the added x, in this case they are called "loading..." and "splash".

But it's highly recommended to make first a backup of the original bmps, in case you get bored of your custom ones or something

Oh. Forgot about that, but yes, it follows along with the number 1 rule of modding:

1. Always, without exception have a back-up copy of any file that you plan to edit, before you edit it!

(Note that the rule says "always have a back-up copy" not "always make a back-up copy" this is because sometimes [as is the case with protox and techtreex for example] a back-up copy already exists in the game's data, so you don't need to back them up yourself. Regardless, having a back-up somewhere is the rule!)
