But some time ago a forummer named MythicRuler at Purple Design Studios announced that he had found a work-around to this. Upon further inquiry, I was able to get him to give a small hint as to how he did this, and I'm an experianced enough modder that I was abled to decipher his hint and figure out how to create a "psuedo-civ" myself (I'll reveal the secret later.)
But even with this work around, it would only be possible to use this civilization in the editor, because the method is technically "tricking" the game into creating a new civilization, it can't be selected in an RM game. BUT just today, I was looking through the some of the files in data2.bar (hence, from AoM:TT)that piece together the portions of textures that form the UI and comparing those to the ones that perform the same function but are found in data.bar (thus from AoM Vanilla).
It appears to me that there is no reason, provided one could make the icon/texture pieces needed, that we could not allow the civilization to be selected on the UI and be played in an RM.
I came to this conclusion by noticing that these .xml files that configure the UI seem to arrange the god-selection buttons on some grid with arbitrary X (row) and Y (column) coordinate sizes. The most stunning revelation of these files is that when you select a god on the UI menu, it would appear that you are selecting a Let me remind you that I have not run through this process myself, perhaps there is something else hard-coded in the exe that would not allow this, but going by my careful observations, it appears entirely possible. I could elaborate more on what I think can be done and what files you'd need to edit, but first I'd like to see what you know or think about this.
