I want to add a character from a series I'm writing (her image is that of fan artwork for a character from another series, but whatever...) to AOM - The Titans. However, I'm practically useless at modelling and animating for AOM, so I'd like to request somebody's help in doing so.

I'm sorry but do you know how many people want to make your idea? It's one: you. If you can't make it then nobody else will because chances are they don't care. So it's either learn to model or you can't make it.

You don't have to be an a**hole about it... :_(

He just tell how it is. You have no reason to call him ***hole! Trust me, it's way cooler to model yourself. There are tons of tutorials. I recommend Stephen Caines introduction to modeling.
Uruk-Hai, Skeleton Warriors, Green horde, Khorne Berserker, Dwarfs Attention!>Wrong english grammar are special effects and wanted from my keyboard<Attention! The more there is to hide, the more there's to uncover. So welcome to the other side. This trip here is hell...

You may think he is saying it brashly but he knows what he is talking about. The thing is, you are right, its a lot of work.
The reason people do model is because they can enjoy what they get at the end of the work. If you are the only one who wants to have this mod then no one else will want to make it.
Sorry if this is not what you were looking for
But the tutorial mentioned above will be really helpful

What I meant was he could have said it in a way that could be taken as nicer.

L33TSkillz answered in such a way just because this forum get these threads all the time, and the answer can only be the same. It's tiresome, which I hope you can understand, and if you had used the search function, you would have seen that there were plenty of people asking just the same question as you.
But I'll give you some advice:
Like Zaph said, look into the tutorials here at AoMH (especially those by Stephen Caines).
Play around in gmax or blender (though not blender versions above 2.49) and see which program suits you.
Look at some general modelling tutorials, because even if they are not for AoM they will certainly speed up the learning process. Blender has some of the best, in my opinion, and the community is huge.
Trial and error. It's the key when it comes to AoM, especially if you choose to work with gmax. The import and export scripts are sometimes unreliable an very sensitive, and one must always go back and look what's not "AoM-compatible" with the model.
Well, good luck!
Sometimes I like to take screenshots. But only sometimes.
