From inactivity, I rise! Some of you may recall me as the guy who created a tool called XS-GEN which is a program designed for random map designers to help create XS map. Unfortunately, I can see that my program has failed to bring much success to AOM designers.
So a question comes into mind: is there still a demand to bring a better RMS generator? I would like to fix my creation's failure and turn it into a success, but the problem is I have hard time doing that without a demand for a better RMS generator.
Heres what I planned on: I'm going to reboot XS-GEN completely. It will be different than previous generations of XS-GEN. During my inactivity time, I've been secretly working on various enhancements and will append them to the next generation of XS-GEN. It will push the limit of performance beyond XS-GEN's limit and make the user interface be more flexibility.
More information about next generation of XS-GEN that are already in work of progress (roadmap):
1. Multi-player designing mode. Don't have to make a map alone anymore. Call in for a help and hire a expertise (or a friend) to assist creating your help.
2. Better 2d map interface. It will use textures instead of solid color.
3. Multiple threads support for multi-cores CPU.
Now, I would like to hear your feedback about whether I should continue my development for XS-GEN, or leave XS-GEN alone and let its failure becomes written in AOM's history?
Also, if you're RMS designer, I would love to hear your suggestions on ideas how to make XS-GEN to be more friendly to your needs. How can I make developing RMS easier?
