Long time RTS fan here, finally seriously considering modding for one of my favourite games.
TL;DR: are there any realistic prehistoric building models available for Age of Mythology - The Titans ?
I have been considering making ahistorical, and even partly prehistorical campaign for Age of Mythology - The Titans expansion. I am not using the Extended Edition or whatever.
Obviously, this game is not readily suited for a prehistoric (or even historic) scenario: with the editor, I can find out how to cut the myth units and even eliminate (or selectively choose) god powers. Mind you: I don't intend for the whole cultural aspect to go away - I think there are ways of honouring an ancient civilisation's belief system while also keeping things more grounded than they are in the vanilla game. There might even be a way of renaming the Archaic Age to "Stone Age". (Or a way of adding the Stone Age before the Archaic Age?! probably not as that would likely entail the creation of new minor deities - unless that selection mechanic can be cut for the transition from Stone age to Archaic age but this all sounds very complicated to implement)
Well yeah, the problem is, by default the Archaic Age "look" is clearly too advanced for the Stone Age.
Question: has anyone created and shared prehistoric building models for the game? (specifically for AoM:TT)
I mean Stone Age buildings that would look like those in Age of Empires. Or Empire Earth. Or better still - Empire Earth II. That stuff looks convincing.
Yes I have searched quite thoroughly online and haven't found anything for Age of Mythology. I might have missed some obscure mod.
Ideally villagers would use spears for hunting, just like in Age of Empires. Don't know how hard it would be to mod that.
At some point, I would also need to worry about the "minor deity" selection screen when advancing to the next age: I would be happy to keep that as a mechanic, but the descriptions and associated icons would have to be drastically culled since there shouldn't be any choice of myth units. If myth related stuff could be replaced (instead of only eliminated) by more realistic bonuses that could be described in the selection screen then that would be great.
I am testing the waters here: I realise we're all busy and have better things to do, but I would be grateful for any help. One of the reasons why I am looking to do this in Age of Mythology instead of, say, Empire Earth II is that the Egyptian civilisation is really nicely fleshed out here, including in terms of its cultural dimension. It's not a sim or anything but I don't need it to be...
