One thing I've noticed in my play style that hurts me is not building enough villagers so I've really been focused on trying to build 40+ per game.
In reviewing the post game stats for a recent game though I noticed something odd.
In the lower left corner of the main screen you can see how many gatherers you have on each resource. At the end of the game the total number listed there was ~75 but the post game stats for "civilian units" only showed 40?!?! Why the discrepency? Which is right?
Zasten Norse since day one.

The post game strats are right. You probably had only 40 villies. This is a bug. As soon as the game ends, the number of resource gatherers shown just jumps up.

When the game is over and the whole map is revealed to you, maybe it is counting the total resource gatherers on the entire map? Just a guess.

No actually that is also not the case. I beat AI once, without allowing it to resign. That means that it did not have any villiagers whatsoever left on the map. Still the numbers shot up.

not trade carts.. but I think it just doubles the villies. Thats what I noticed in my last game anyway. So when you had 40, you probably had about 2 or 3 praying, and double of 37-38 ~ 75.
I just made notice in 1 game, so might be wrong. But then, I could be right also
ps: Just noticed that you played norse. May be a couple of your villies were idle??
