This is basically the thread about any bugs and suggestions concerning ESO. A list of points will be compiled (pretty much just quoting from each post, takes too long to reword them) in this post and updated eventually.
Keep on topic, any posts straying from the subject will be deleted.

BugsGeneral
Stats sometimes cannot be accessed
Any quick set up with more than 2 people (ie 2v2 and more) never updates my score for me. Prolly a routing issue. Can u make it so it either works, or you give people suggestions on how to fix it (hostport=xxxx and port forwarding doesn't help) OR can u make it so AoM doesn't delete the zsl file? Make it like recorded games so it keeps the last 10 zsl files. That way, I can upload it manually later.
I'm not sure if this is a problem, maybe its just me but, at times when i am in the stats page in ESO, and I attempt to delete or type in a name, it won't show up, i have to click the text box multiple times and than try to type or erase.
Thanks.
In team games, when a player is dropped or disconnected, the screen IMMEDIATELY freezes/locks up completely for a while (about a minute), and then boots us to the main multiplayer interface screen. This happened so far 3 times to me, and all the other people that was in the game.
New: When there are 6 people in a game, and we all choose Random Teams, the random generator ALWAYS pick teams 1, 3, and 5. Im not sure if the random generator also generates the same team number everytime in 4 player games or over 6 players. This is bad issue
Friends List and Invites
Invites don't work from the friend's list if you have to scroll down.
Sometimes when I go to chat rooms it says: "you have lost the connection to the chat server" or something
When you try to connect to some1 else's game, it takes a lot of time, when the time runs out, you appear in an empty room.
Friends list should be in order of who’s online, the people who are playing games, then people who are offline.
often in larger games when someone clicks in nobody else can see that they are clicked in for up to several minutes, and game doesn't start. Usually this occurs at or after the second game. Downloading
Very often it says there was a problem downloading, but thats "fine".
The more important thing is - Sometimes a download says it sucessfully finished, yet it didn't. If that happens the host will not be able to click in, even if that player leaves the game, so after you finally have 6 players in the room, turns out you have to rehost the game because you cannot click in.
If a person downlaoding, quits the room, the same thing happens - the host cannot click in.
Logging On
Post 1.05 - AoM Shortcut with OverrideAddress (used for DirectIP Play) specified can't connect to ESO. Able to connect to ESO just fine if I use an AoM Shortcut without OverrideAddress specified.
Post 1.06 - When I attempt to log in to ESO it comes back with a message saying that the Default language setting in IE is not set correctly. My language is set correctly to English-US. Anyway I close AoM and then launch it again and then reattempt to login to ESO and it works just fine. The problem where it gives me the stupid error once and then I have to close it and restart AoM to get it to work happens everytime either a user profile change has occured or the machine has been restarted.
RatingsNew: losing valuable rating by hackers, who just quit, making you lose points that you tried so hard to earn. I also have the REC for it if you wanna see it.(it was a 2v2 game)
Improvement SuggestionsGeneral
Is there any chance that logging onto ESO could be faster? I mean I know it uses .NET Passport but still... It takes too long. Surely it can't need to transfer more than a few kilobytes of data at the most?
Remove Conquest mode. It's no different than Supremacy. To do this fairly, set each player's new Supremacy rating after the change to the max of their Conquest and Supremacy ratings (so having a low Conquest rating won't hurt you but you won't lose your high one).
Add a "Community"/"Web Browser" tab to ESO where one can look at fansites, etc while still having the rest of ESO open and working, or perhaps better, add an external ESO system from the game which can run in the background like MSN Messanger and which you can use to see what friends are online, (maybe) view ratings, and (maybe) see what games are available. It should have a quick "Launch AoM" feature which lets you accept an invitation or just get onto ESO and to the game list by pressing one button.
It be wicked if you could see some1 else game without playing it. For exampe, my friend is playing, so I go to the room he's in and go to view mode, with that I can see him play or the enemy.
I think many people loved the coop option in AoK. Although few people used it for the actual purpose, it was a great feature when you wanted to watch someone else's game. Currently I'm giving aom training to people and a coop option would be ideal, so I can see what they research, and what units they're creating, and their resources.
Registering names on eso already gives you access to a passport account that you can use on msn messenger. For example I have Flammifer@eso.com. When someone logs onto eso their eso account could become active on msn messenger as well. When you started msn messenger it could let log onto one eso account that already has your eso friends list on it. As the eso names don't actually have email accounts you don't have to worry about spam. This gives people the same combination anonymity and ability to be on more often that zf did.
New: My suggestion is take a deep look into the best in-game matchmaking systems like BNET and compare with ESO and find out why there are some problems on ESO and not on BNET. Just take advantage of the fact that BNET exists for 6 years and made all of the mistakes they could.... I think ESO doesn't have to follow all their mistakes.
New: Something I think is very cool that is in Empire Earth and in Rise of Nations in the game stats is that "Speed Details" such as how many hotkeys did you pressed during the game, how many clicks, how many mini-map clicks, and so on.... it's not vital to the game but I think its a nice feature to see how you compare with others. Hum... maybe what if for example in terms of hotkeys pressed you had 10/min and then ESO storaged this info from all games and then it would show as:
hotkeys pressed: 10/min - 70%
That 70% would mean that you are 70% faster then the community or slower than 30% of the community.. just so you can have an ideia of how fast or slow you are compared to the community.
New: I really liked how ES created ESO so you could log on to MSNm with your ESO name. (CCz_Realn@eso.com) What I would like to see though, is to be able to chat with people on ESO while you are on MSNm. They would be able to see you as online and you would have your friends list. It would work together, back-and-fourth and it would be much better. Otherswise, I already said what I wanta see in Improvement of ESO. What bothers me is the ES guys never respond to my posts.
New: I know this goes against the classical, historical feel of the game - but I think the chat facilities and friends list - in fact pretty much everything in ESO - should use a sans serif font. Doesn't have to be Arial - there are some cooler options like Tahoma and the Lucida fonts. Also, some of the custom interface controls - like the fancy scroll bars - are quite awkward to use and can sometimes be buggy. Also none of the controls really seem to get the focus, and you cannot use the keyboard to navigate the interface.
New: You can change your name if you join a clan or want to change your name. On your stats it says ex_eso_name FORMERLY eso_name, so you don't lose your stats or, if you have one, a reputation.
New: A list of people within 50 or so points of you online, eg you are 1600, it shows people from 1550-1600 who are looking for a game ( rated or unrated ). When you are waiting for a rated, it needs to be more interesting. Just sitting there watching "Searching" and watching that little blue bar slide across again and again is hardly stimulating. I don't know what just something.
New: And lastly improved stats. Maybe even eso records every game automatically. They are really small so space is not an issue. If you go to a player's stats you see their last 5-10 games and a download link. That would be cool.
Friends List, Messages, and Invites
Standalone messaging system. This could work like ZF, so you can have it running without having to have ESO hogging system resources. You could also set it up so you could access the chatrooms in ESO just by going to ESO.com (dunno if that's possible though). Just some way to make it more accessible without having to have it hog your system resources.
How about you can leave an automatic message on, so that if someone messages you and you're eating dinner, takin gou the trash, etc., they'll know why you're not responding. Then, as soon as you get back, you can turn the auto-message off. Besides that, I second, or third, or whatever the idea of being able to see a chart showing you the people looking for quick setup games.
If you are in a game, and a friend messages you, you have to distract yourself by pressing the /(name) (text). [Needs to be fixed]
Make the Friends List and Quit buttons available on every screen. The Friends List should be pop-uppable instead of a modal dialog and you should be able to keep it to the side of the screen and use it while changing screens and so on (it should just float there).
Make user names (in chat messages, invite dialogs, game setup screens, or the people-in-chat-room list) clickable. When you click such a name a menu would pop up with Whisper, Add/Remove to Friends, Block, Invite, Locate (which would say where the player is), etc on it. This would make it much easier to communicate to people.
If your hosting a game a 'give host to' button would be great. That way if the host had to leave for some unforseen problem then we wouldn't have to open a new game, also in a 'friends game' if someone joined who had a faster connection you could give them the hostship.
My newest wish is that friends lists be stored with your ESO accout, not with your AoM user profile.
Also it would be great if you could click on your buddies name from the friends list and join their game if its not an "invite only". They had this feature in RA:Yuri's Revenge.
is it possible to make a few category in the friend's list. for example: aomh friends, real friends, etc etc. cause when i had a vary big friend's list sometimes i dont remember who are they and where do i know them from. and its easier to find specific friends too if you have a huge list. also showing online friends on the top would help.
almost forgot about this, but if someone invites you while you're typing a message and you hit enter, you'll automatically accept. I often get invites while launching games, and since at that point the messages are so short, I'll just type gl hf and just before I hit enter, the invite will pop up and I'll a) cancel the launch and b) get myself kicked from the game and moved into another
I want to be able to know someone's rating and ping before I invite him...Can I know it just by clicking one's name? (this is a suggestion)
New: I would like to be able to know if somebody's still in the game after it had finished. Like a little icon or something next to their score to say if they have left. It could be handy when talking to someone after the game...and not making an idiot of yourself
New: you type #ICON and then a number and it displays some smiles and some other stuff.... it's pretty cool to make chatting a bit more fun
New: if there are x amount of players in a room (advanced), and the host makes the maximum number smaller, the last ones get kicked. That's good, but if you've only got players 1,2,4,5 in a room, instead of moving player 5 to spot 3, he is kicked.
Ratings System
ladder work for EVERYONE and to curb smurfing without causing any other serious problems...
Ways to improve ESO Rating System: • You cannot go below a certain level quite as easily.
If you reach a rating of 1700, you can still go up in rating, yet you cannot go below 1700* (See exception below). Same with 1800,1900. (Probably not necessary for the 2k+ ratings) This should limit the negative effects of smurfing while still making the rating system competitive. This will categorize players within their ability more appropriately
PROBLEM: When a 1750 player is playing a 1700 rated player, there is no point incentive for the 1750 player.
SOLUTION: Inflation value of 5. If the 1750 player wins, he/she gains 5 points and the 1700 player receives a loss.
EXCEPTION: If the 1700 player fails to win 1 game out of 3 that are played, he/she will lose 5 points and play more games at the 1600-1699 rated level.
everyone has their rating points subtracted by 800 points and ratings should be more, spread out, similar to chess ratings, instead of having 80% of all players @ 1600-1699
New: About the rating system I think there should be a decay system like in BNET... say if a guy doesn't play with that certain nick for a certain period of time he should lose some points acording to his Rating range. The higher the rating more points he would lose or he would have a shorter time to play more games.
In our cause I think players with 1800 should have to play a certain number of games per week maybe 1, 1900 a bit more, 2000 a bit more and so on... if they didnt play they would lose some points for inactivity or most likely smurfing hehehe
This decay system would decrease smurfing a lot I'm pretty sure about it... maybe not eliminate completely though. After all everyone wants a ladder that is active and up to dated and not fulled with nicks that are not used anymore.
New: Um, someone suggested this a while ago.... i am not trying to steal their idea, just reinforcing it.... having civ-specific ratings, eg you have a Zeus rating, Hades rating, Odin rating etc,etc or having a greek, eggy, and norse rating. I thought this was one of the better ideas of the hundreds out there.Finding Games and Joining
Inability to sort games Alphabetically -- it is really a pain to find games in the advanced setup, because the games are listed randomly, and there is no easy way to find a game you're looking for. On the Zone, the games can be viewed using the nice "Table" layout or "List" layout to be sorted alphabetically or by other methods.
The games are listed in pages -- it is really frustrating to have to click through pages after pages to find a game you're looking for, when they could have been listed in a format that can be viewed by browsing up and down, which is so much faster and easier.
Games are not listed in "Real Time" -- on top of the annoying problem of having to click through the many pages to find a game, when a player finally found a game... on let's say page 5 -- and he clicks on that game to join, it says the room is already "full", eventhough it doesn't appear so. To add to the misery, the page reset and put the player back to page 1.
My suggestion has to do with finding multiplayer rated games. I would like to see a statistics graph on the quick setup page that tells the number of people actually looking for a multiplayer rated game in your rating bracket. My friend and I are always trying to find 2v2 games on weeknights but can NEVER get them.
I want to be able to see the list of games, while I am in a room. If this game isn't filling, and there is another game with 5/6 players, I want to quickly jump there. Right now, I have to quit the current game to even look at the list! The current game should add a tab so you will have 4 tabs instead of 3 - current game, game list, chat, and stats.
While on the quickstart page show a list of the types of games that people are searching for. This will allow those who play lightning or 2v2 games to get matched up more often.
Improve the game list screen for Advanced Setup. Place player names and game names in different columns in the table, along with maybe a game type and a graphical ping indicator. Allow sorting of game list by different methods (ping, game type, game name, game creation time, number of players, etc).
It seems some people don't understand when a game name includes for instance 2000+
Could you please make an option to autokick people below a certain rating ? When you have created a game you should be able to set minimum rating so you won't have low rated people entering. (Surely I cannot be the only one frustrated after kicking nr. 100 1540 player not understand that he game is for 1950+ players). Of course players on your friend list should be able to join your game no matter their rating.
Also.. instead of a kick option could you have a ban option so you won't have the same child entering your game over and over again ignoring that you kick him everytime ? (*mumbles something about a 1523 player connecting, typing 999, being kicked, connecting typing 999 etc etc etc)
I didn't see this while looking through the thread, sorry if it's already been posted. When you click on an Advanced game, the lower-right box shows you the names of players who have already joined the game. Please add the current rating of each player to that display.
