TAs should have x3 vs inf, and x3.5 vs fanatics/myrm. AND +0.5 attack. I´m not kidding. Or, as an alternative, keep the multipliers but give them +2.5 attack.
The stats for TAs are amazingly crappy. They cost 90 res, same as toxotes, and just compare them.. TAs have far less range, since they throw heavier, deadlier projectiles, but they also have less attack? Lol. Other stats are pretty much comparable, with the Ta getting a wee bit more HP and more hack armor, and tox getting a little more pierce armor. And TAs have another inherent deficiency compared to tox. when they both fight the units they´re supposed to be good vs (inf) - they have go get through the much thicker hack armor.
A feature with Norse is that some of their units should actually be BETTER than other civs, since they are the only choice for a certain role, which makes them predictable. Namely ulfs and TAs. If the enemy makes infantry, every Norse player MUST make TAs to counter them, so when the TAs suck, the Norse dies fast. Since the opponent has 2 infantry counters, they can pick their ranged one to pick off the TAs. Vs Norse, you don´t have to guess what they´ll build.
Something that came up some time ago was that TAs have good survival percent (means they survive till the end of the game) and therefore must be good. Of course not true. If I make rcs and TAs, and face axemen/spears for example, the following will happen - The TAs, having a crappy damage/second, will attack two units they´re supposed to counter, but kill them very slowly. Meanwhile, the good-stats rc will fight for their poor little digital souls, doing quite well, but still dying like hell *ooh it rhymes*. Now eventually, if the Norse has a bigger army, he´ll win. Looking at the battlefield, the noob says:
"Well all rcs are dead, and many TAs survived. Man, TAs ROCK!!!!!"
Nuff said.
Now Norse are very mobile and agile, and can still win games (obviously) through some strats, eg hersir rush and ragna+titan. But I still think their (our ) units need a boost.And for the last time, stop saying we need to build something else than rc+tas. We don´t build tas vs inf cause were unimaginative, we build them cause they´re the only damn anti-inf we get!!. Hmm, maybe I should go pure ulfs next time...Besides, rc+ta gets killed off by hop/tox, hip/tox, hop/pelt, pelt/hyp, prodr/hop, axe/spears, spears/sling, ca/sling, turm/cheiro, myrm/turm, chickens, berries, priests on no-attack stance etc..
