What if there was a type of game like regicide, called Heroic Epic, or something to that extent. Instead of having a really weak king, you have a super hero, with a name. They woud be like the exact opposite of a king. Since Greek is my strong point, I will use them as an example.
At the beginning of the game, you choose your god as normal, but you also get to select your hero unit. For the Greeks you get a choice of Perseus, Heracles, and Theseus.
Perseus would be a fast unit that could fly, but has super low HP and below average armor. Perseus has the power to fly because he had possession of Hermes' winged sandals. The low HP and armor would help balance his high evasive talents. Also, for a certain amount of favor he can turn invisible for a certain amount of time, because he wore Hades' helmet of invisibilty. He bore the shield of Athena also.
Heracles would have a high melee attack and super high pierce armor. He was born with immense strength and wore the Nemean lion's fur as armor, because nothing made by man could pierce it, hence the high pierce armor. He would have to be the slowest unit of the 3 though, this would help balance.
Theseus would be an all-around strong unit. He never had a weakness, but never had a defining strength either, except for his courage. He would be quicker than Heracles, but slower than Perseus.
The point of the game is to slay your opponents hero before they can kill yours. Normal MUs and god-powers would still be in the game.
Any constructive crticism or other ideas welcome.
