I bought me a brand spankin new comp last year and it was the best then. Now its there, but not the best.
It was a Sony VAIO 1.7 Ghz 128 MB of RDRAM Geforce 2 60 GB hard drive CD and DVD recorder and the usual stuff
right now I have it upgraded to a geforce 4 128 MB ti 4200 and I will upgrade my memory to 512 too.
I was just readign soemthign above, and someone spent 80 bucks on 512 mb of memory. But it isn't rdram
Well I have to spend almost 250 bucks for 512. which is a bummer for me.

Ya well my uncle works for alienware company, so I get there latest and greatest stuff before it hits the market
Actually, it appears several people are buying new comps for AoM. I'm buying one because I'm leaving for school, but I'll order it early so I'll have it for the alpha.

So here are my conclusions from this topic:
1) You get a lot more bang for your gaming buck with a desktop (vs. a laptop)
2) Particularly if you build it yourself
3) Proud though I am of my new acquisition, a lot of forumers have much better computers than I do
4) Above some minimum computing power bar, additional power, though cool, doesnt likely matter for AOM
4) I am still ready for all 9,999 of you (+ VIPs)

I have a brand new comp and it's worse than most of the ones psoted in here .
Conslusion: I will still be ready, willing, and able to take you all at AoM .
PS: Laptops are very expensive compared to desktops, I think that should be obvious. And your comp is about the same as mine except yours has double the RAM.
PPS: And mine is still more than fine for any game I need to play now or in the near future, so I almost laugh at people who spend tons of money to have new comps every year .

I know this is kinda off topic but since it seeems you guys know alot about comps, does anyone know if I can upgrade gigabytes from a 95 packard bell. Now its like 2 gigabytes of hard drive, can I upgrade that to like 20gigas with someting from circut city, or would I have to special order it ??

Clothes? Shoes? Do these even compare in importance to a new computer? (yes school does ).
