I prefer smaller packages but at the same time, and I say again....what matters is the CD inside.

I think this thread should be preserved as a memorial to people's boredom waiting for the Alpha.

Well although you say you need a big box for a big manual you are wrong, sometimes companies are putting the manuals on CD's now like my RCT manual, it's annoying but it means you can put the game in a smaller package. I would like a DVD case as I don't currently ahve enough of those cases to warrant buying a shelf for them so they just lie around my room instead

I would prefer to have the manual infront of me while im playing, than to have to come out of the game to look it up.
But whatever ES do is fine with me.

I don't like CD manuals cos you have to print them off for them to be at all useful.

OMG. When I first saw this post, I laughed.
And as I was reading it, I cried.
Then I sleeping. Then hungry. Then nauseous.
Then Peppy.
And now, reflective.
Yes...there is definetly something to be said about big packages. Remember, when a girl tells you 'it's not the size that counts', she's lying. OF COURSE SIZE MATTERS.
I'm hoping that it does come in a deluxe package...a good size manual with a lot of backround information on the myths, a nice foldout card, and a mini one with all the hotkeys on it so I can put it against my computer monitor for 'at a glance' tappage.

I hope that AoM will come in the smaller boxes, but they will probably have a collector's editoin that will be big. I just checked the AoK manual, and it is about 1.5cm too wide and 1.5cm too long to fit exactly inside the smaller box. I'm sure ES could make the AoM manual 2cm slimmer and 2cm shorter than the AoK manual so it will fit comfortably into the smaller box. The AoK manual size was fine, and a bit smaller won't make much of a difference. I'm sure the AoM manual will be quite long, the AoK manual was 142 pages, and it had detailed information about every unit and building, which is important. They also had tech trees at the back of hte manual, and the AOM manual might have the same thing. However, the laminated tech tree is much bigger, and so they'd have to make it smaller by a lot to fit it inside the small box. So, maybe the tech tree pullout will only be in the collector's edition.

I doubt it, ALL games have been put in small packaging to save resources and blah.
A manual, a CD jewel case, would fit fine in small boxes, and the techtree could be made smaller.

Nothings bigger than MY package!
Seriously, women like things that come in big packages, thats why there aren't many females who play WarCraft 3 (small package), if ES and M$ wants to boost sells to females...then just put AoM in a big package and women will be like "Oohhhh oooooooooohhh big package, its SOOOOOO big!!"

It might be like DS with a large box (don't even get me started on this package disscussion!) and a different version of the box that is small
or it could be like WC3 and be a regular (AoK)(AoC) size box..
and Hi people, I just got back from San Antonio

I've always enjoyed how the Age series has the foldout. It's become somewhat of a trademark for the Age Series.
Other then that, I believe they will have it in both Small and Big Packages. If MS really wants to boost production (Which could be very important seeing how their corporations stock is the lowest since 1998 and they could use a few good games to become raise it) then MS would put them in both types of packages. Therefore people who enjoy big packages, and people who enjoy DVD size packages can both enjoy the size of the box.

I am very tempted to comment on that, but I don't think I will.

Wouldn't that cause too much faffing about for MS's liking?
