I noticed many people are comparing camels, spearmen, and other cavalry counters to Jarls (Odin) and complaining that these counters can't beat them cost-effectively and so on. What I also noticed is that they are comparing a Jarl fully upgrade *with myth techs* to cavalry counters fully upgraded but *without myth techs*. Obviously they won't defeat mythed out Jarls cost-effectively. However, a mythed out cavalry counter will slaughter a mythed out Jarl and therefore they do have cost-effective counters in ever culture. Examples:
Greeks: Prodromos: Spirited Charge(Hermes), Thracian Horses(Dionysus). Prodromos already beat Jarls cost-effectively, barely, but this will simply make them even more cost-effective.
Egyptians: Spearman: Serpent Spear(Anubis), Spear on the Horizon(Horus), Greatest of Fifty(Horus). I suppose you can make do without Anubis seeing the key tech is Greatest of Fifty. At 50 food and 20 gold you can get a very cheap counter to Odin's Jarls.
Norse: Ulfsark: Mithril Breastplate(Forseti), Call of Valhalla(Bragi), Swine Array(Bragi), Berserkergang(Tyr). Probably better than Spearman, once again they also do a pretty good job of cost-effectively beating Odin's Jarls. Odin doesn't get Bragi so this won't work for him, but it makes sense because he can just make Jarls of his own.
I know what your saying. How can that be balanced? You have to choose certain gods to counter Odin Jarls. But it makes perfect sense. What would be the point in researching all those myth techs if they could be effectively countered by an a counter with no myth techs. Fully upgraded Huskarls don't lose to Regular unupgraded axeman and they shouldn't, thats why there are technologies and improvements. To make units more cost-effective against other units that haven't been improved, *even* their counters. So in my opinion Jarls(Odin's in particular) are not over powered at all. I hope that this clears up any confusion and ends this 200+++ topic. Please post any comments you have.
