raiding is easier since you don't have to sacrafice your economy for a rush. A rush is where you advance quickly in order to harass the opponents villagers while hopefully gaining an economic advantage and winning the game early. A raid is where you advance as normal and attack villagers and houses etc. to slow down their economy so you can defeat your opponent more easily. Without resources you can't have a good enough army and advance your economy further.
