Hello everyone,

I am sure many of you have heard about the AOM Net Campaign being done, if not find out the information about it at :
http://www.throughtheages.com/netcampaign.shtml

Now, at the moment, its not the players but more deisgners are needed.

The current list of designers is:
Angel Rasher
Shadows
Kumar Shah
BrandNewCar
Night Conqueror
Larmir (EO)
Matei
Niadanac
GOTD_FireCobra
dutchpower
Shiva
TwentyOneScore
Spitfire
jjhon
xLpx

It will be great if some of the designers out there will also volunteer to design the maps for the contest.

The things to be done include, deciding the type of map, designing it, making the triggers, testing it before it is released for play i.e. a normal map designing cycle.

The maps we design, people will play and fight over, maybe for much more time than after the end of the Net campaign.

Please reply here if anyone is intrested in helping, I hope many people are.

Kumar Shah

I could help playtest and check the maps. (I will be able to add eyecandy if needed, but I might not be able to make a full map due to time constraints.)

Wait, is it for ESO members only? Cause if it were just people, I'm all over this thing.

Can you tell us more how to register our maps and stuff.

Here was my idea:

"There have been rumors of Bandits stealing mining operations in the deserts of Egypt, blah, blah, blah, and the 2 players (Happen to be 2 different city investigators) get in a huge arguement. They both want to convince all the villages to help them to stop the Bandits (optional for reward (gold, wood, food would be rewarded)) but most of all, kill the other team (human player)"

Anyway, what I'm saying is, each player must go around the deserts and find hidden villages. When the players find whatever village they see, it will be converted into theirs. After that's done, I guess you can start building your army. From time to time, bandits will attack different villages. If you destroy the Bandits' mining camps and bases, you will be rewarded with food and gold, possibly wood too. I'm workin on the triggers for that, so...

Do you guys think it's a good idea? Or am I missing the point? (lol)

Nobody has to start creating anything yet, we are supposed to work as a team.

If you are intrested in helping just post here with your Name, E-mail and ESO name (not compulsory).

What do you mean by ESO name? Do we have to be part of ES?

ESO is not ES. ES is Ensemble Studios, just the company that made Age of Mythology, and you can't really be a member of it unless it hires you, while ESO is the Age of Mythology multiplayer service ("ES Online") which you are on every time you play a multiplayer game. So your ESO name is just the name you use when playing multiplayer online.

We probably won't have very detailed storylines but rather just interesting maps with various settings, but nothing is really certain yet.

When I asked Soc, he told me only Rasher has volunteered till now, well, sorry for that.

I volunteered just 2 days back, but when I came to know its just Rasher and me, i decided we need more ppl.

Now I think we would be getting somewhere, come on ICQ sometimes

Hey, I've been thinking of a change of pace from NwN (I can only stand scripting these thousand part conversations for so long) and this might be a nice break. My email's in my profile.

I have a nice city map, Aluna, which has some nice tactical options in it, but I'd need to make some modifications to it to make it work as a multiplayer scenario.

Tell me more about the requirements. Is it build and destroy, or can we have a fixed force? What about adding RPG elements like conversations with indiviudal characters? Does it have to have standard gameplay, or can I add little surprises, puzzle solving, and other tactical considerations? In other words, how much does it have to resemble a RM and how much does it have to resemble a scenario?

Also;

What you've got going is a Risk-esque series. Why not just go to full blown Risk. Each map has fixed forces. Pastes screenies of all the maps together and write down what units the landownder in that area has stationed there. Let people move their armies around inside their territory. After the initial owerships are decided, give everyone turns in which to follow the rules of Risk, attack and move around. Even award people new armies following the rules, minimum of three, one per three territories, extra for continents (forget about cards though, they woulnd't work). You could have several games going on at once. You know the rules. Only downside is that you'd have to get all the maps done in advance, and you'd need a decent number, and then you arange them in interesting patterns to make a board. It could work.

Just a wild and crazy idea.

I would like to help with the map designings. I'm gonna get a map ready, but... I have huge testings at school, so I'll have to work real hard on the weekends. When is the date (deadline) for the submitted maps? like, by what date do i have to send em by? I hope my testing won't be that long...
