Tifflrol's Journey

DOWNLOAD HERE

Anyways, this is about a Norse Hersir named Tifflrol (don't laugh lol ) who's village got invaded by Circe. He and his small army fight but get taken as prisoners. Circe uses them for practice with her magic, turning them into various creatures.

Circe accidentally turns Tifflrol into a super Promethean (she doesn't know it). Tifflrol doesn't know this, escapes and sails home. His former allies chase him to the top of mountain and he lives there for a while, protected by a storm that surrounds the mountain.

Eventually, he gets a dream that a special pond on an unknown island will cure him. . .

Suggestions and constructive critisism are welcome. Please don't make posts such as "That pic doesn't look that good" as I wouldn't have any idea what you are refering to.

Scenarios: I plan to have him fight his way through Norse, Egypt, Greek, and Atlantis. Probably 3-5 scenarios per culture.

The below is finished:
Prologue
1) Out of the Mountains
2) Finding Help

Sounds somewhere nice.

I like the turning into a beast and quest for a cure storyline.

Maybe skip the parts in your showcase where you write stuff like this...no need for that because every designer has to start somewhere and some time:

This is my second try at making scenarios so don't expect too much

If you have problems about Circe why don't you give her just another name..she can be some kind of other witch.

Well try to keep up the spirit and finish it !

Good luck and best regards,

thankless little witch!

anyways, it sounds interesting, although from the looks of it, the map needs more details.

also, you need more details on this topic. how many scenarios are you planning to make?? whats the title of this campaign?

Name: Tifflrol's Journey

Haven't decided yet but that's it for now.

Scenarios: Dunno

I plan to have him fight his way through Norse, Egypt, Greek, and Atlantis. Probably 3-5 scenarios per culture. Also plan on having him walk into a few traps set by other sorcerors or maybe even Kronos (not sure about the Kronos one).

About changing Circe's name . . . Nah, I think I'll keep it.

@Auron: Do you mean more eye candy for the Prologue?

Hey pftq,
I'm just gonna comment on your eye candy

Your first screenie looks good but it's only because most of it is covered with fire, which I like
Here is a burning city I made 14 months ago in AOM

You can see i've strategically put fire in and added rocks and bricks, fallen trees and burning trees, etc.

The second screeny I think is extremly typical of a newbie designer however i'm not sure if you're a newb or not.
See how you've put an army there. It looks more like a studio posing for a shot after they completed a game or movie lol but it doesn't look nice because all the floor is flat and textures aren't really differing or blending either. Plus the town doesn't look very damaged for a town that's just been attacked.

The 3rd shot is ok but you should put an animal and some nature stones or something on the path.

In the 4th shot the floor is also too flat (especially as it's not in a town) and need more terain varient and nature stuff.

---

Ok well I hope this post helps you if your future maps

Good luck and best regards,

For all the screens put some elevation in the ground. Flat grounds dont look good.

Can you do the Double Yoda?
A sexual move, where you do a double backflip, insert your penis into the orifice of choice, and scream, "Afraid are you?"
posted 22 July 2004 02:37 PM EDT (US)     12 / 73
Ah okay. I'll see what elevation I can add. But it's supposed to be like a pass in the mountains.

As for the damaged town center, it's actually damaged 99%. O_o

Probably also put in some fallen trees. There are already rocks. Maybe some ruins as well.

For the sceens, I'll keep that in mind. But note that you may download the whole prologue.

I like it very much, good luck on this!

PS: can annyone tell me how I download this movie? I realy don't know annything about computers, ect.(but I can type '¥', ¥€$(h)).

Thanks. Well, after you download the file, put the file in My Documents/My Games/Age of Mythology/scenario

If you dunno what that means, just go first to My Documents, then My games etc. Editted first post to make this clear. EDIT: Load it as a Scenario in Single Player Mode.

Anyways, I tried some of you guys's suggestions. I hope I didn't make it worse.

Here are the updated screenshots and Prologue file. Please consider downloading the Prologue too. You can't really judge a prologue just by looking at some screenshots from the beginning of it. Thanks.

EDIT: Use first post's links.

Ok i've seen the prologue now
It's not bad but it seems like it was rushed or maybe not that much effort was made to make it look good, because it's not ad but it's not really good either.

I suggest using different camera angles and lighting- and NEVER show the black of the end of the map.
Also I had no idea what's going on because all of a sudden there's a big war going on and you don't know what had happened before then for the war to happen.
Eye candy was pretty though, I give you that

Hey thanks. But I thought the dialogue would explain the war: "They may have destroyed our village but we will fight until every last one of them are gone."

I had a trigger for render fog/black map off in the beginning of the game. I'll check on it . . .

By rushed I suppose you mean that it goes dark too often? I'll see what I can do about that.

I've watched the trailer. Looks funny, but I've two pieces of advice for you:

-Don't show the border of the map in cinematics
-Don't let units suddenly appear out of nowhere (especially in cinematics)

posted 23 July 2004 03:00 PM EDT (US)     21 / 73
Okay I'm gonna try to fix the border problem by raising elevation so that you can see the sky.

Besides Circe, what other units appeared out of nowhere?

I'm revising it a lot so it'll be a much better . . . including the elevation, eye candy stuff, and the problems you guys are mentioning.

Alright just pretend I didn't say the line about it not being too serious okay?

Well, raising the elevation got rid of all the cliffs so I went for an alternative.

How's this? Where you can see off the map (black area) will be covered by the cinematic frames.
