THE LOST LEGION

"One moment, they stood under the skies of Gaul, facing each other in a strange duel of survival. In the hand of the Roman tribune Marcus Scarus was the spell-scribed sword of a Druid priest. The Celtic chieftain Viridovix held a similar sword, bespelled by a rival Druid sorcerer. Then, as the two swords touched, a dome of golden light flared out and surrounded Marcus, Viridovix, and three cohorts of Caesar's legions. The next moment, they found themselves under a strange night sky where no stars were familiar and where Gaul and Rome were unknown. They were in an outpost of the embattled Empire of Videssos - in a world where magic and dark sorcery would test their skill and courage as no Roman legion had ever been tested before."

You should drop that cinematic map example into the eye candy thread, its the most unique thing I have ever seen done with the editor...

(makes me feel like designing).

Well, I have a really huge problem with the file size: 2 hours ago the file was about 2600 kb big, then I've deleted all the waves and other useless objects like the rocks and I've reached the file size 2356 kb. Unfortunatly this operation is not sufficient, my pc still takes 2 minutes to load the map, and I can't imagine how long a less powerfull computer could take... Does someone know a solution?

Edit:
I'v just noticed that in "celtic assault" pic I've placed by mistake 2 egyptian torchs instead of 2 nordic (and more appropriate) ones...

Cheezy has done some work with file size, ask him. Just the straight game files are that bulky? I think I read something by Cheezy that said elevations add alot of file size when there rounded. Abrupt angles are smaller sized.

editYou know Oscar I dont think wainting for the map to load is that big of a deal, as long as the frame rate is good during game play. Its a gorgeous map, if people want to play it they will have to wait. Its a large map, you wait for it to load no bigee.

I believe Cheezy had all shorelines in his WORLDMAP un-smoothened to avoid a large filesize... It doesn't look too good, but it certainly avoids a large file...

Its not an article its a process he went through with his world map to bring the size down.

Well, sincerely this map is becoming very frustrating: .scx files that take a very long time to be loaded and save game file of 6 mb that sometimes can't be opened because of some errors. Probably I will divided the scenario in 2 parts turning it in a small campaign.

Well, the map design is completed (Videssos World pic updated). Also the playable componenet of the map is almost finished but there are many things to correct.
In some day I will start working on the ending (and long) cinematic. Then the sound track, then the traslation, playtest... and so on.
In short the map will be avaiable in 2-3 years ;p

This looks to be the greatest scenario ever, and I don't speak lightly here. Oscar, you are the greatest at every aspect of designing.
