Look, I know this should be in tecnical difficulties, etc. But I am most known in this forum, and I think it may have to do with a map.
Yesterday afternoon, I was playing AOM, and was about to test Empire Egypt online, just by myself. For some reason after the countdown, it got stuck on the loading screen, and I tried alt and F4, but the "Do you want to quit?" screen never showed. Then I turned off the comp, and turned it back on. Now earlier I tried putting the disc in, and my comp will not read it! Why would my map freeze AOM, and why does my DVD drive not read AOM? (It aways has, because my CD drive broke). I tested other discs such as Morrowind, and they work. Anyways, did I damage the disc by turning off the comp, and if I get a new disc, will I be able ot play AOM without reinstalling it?
Try launching the game manually rather than using the shorcut on your desktop.
If still no good pahaps a file went corrupt - try backing up your maps and stuff and reinstalling.

normally, you can't damage a disc by turning off the comp. there is no contact at all between the lens and the disc.

Well I tried rinstalling the game, and the disc still did not work...so as a last desperate, but doubtful resort, I tried using disc cleaner, and it works! So ty for suggestions.
Either you scratched the disc, or, you scratched the computer... (Disc wont work instructions...) Step 1: Grasp the disc with your 2 hands on each side Step 2: Position your knee outward ready to snap the disc Step 3: SNAP AWAY! Step 4: Recycle snapped disc in appropriate bin Step 5: Take a breath/sigh of relief Step 6: MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008!

Now before I get accused of posting illegal links:
"You are LEGALLY ALLOWED to make a personal backup of an Original Game CD/DVD as long as you are the owner of the Original Game CD/DVD." Quoted from gamecopyworld.com
Go to www.gamecopyworld.com,and look for the no-cd loader of the AoM:TT game, follow the instructions, and you won't need the cd anymore.
If this is, however, in the opinion of mods, an illegal link, I'll erase the post myself, and I'm truly sorry, just trying to help here

No...the disc was just in need of finger print cleaning. Nothing with scratches..
