Powered by an old rot with nostalgia.
I no longer have AoMH installed on my PC, but in hindsight I can say that the game, its editor and this community have meant a lot to me. Believe it or not, it helped shape me into the person I am today. Whether that's good or bad, I'll leave up to you to decide.
During my active period here at AoMH, I have created many different kinds of scenarios and cinematics, and numerous screenshots, some more succesful than others. I have enjoyed a prosperous career at designing, and have always had my work respected by even the greatest.
I have been visiting the forum the last couple of days and there was something I noticed that astounded me. When I left, AoMH was quality-wise at a low. Many new designers were visiting, and many experienced ones were leaving. Despite the fact the technical wonders have always stayed, common knowledge is that technical guys suck balls at graphical work (some exceptions to the rule). However, these last couple of days I have seen many great works that really positively surprised me, and even though this particular game-engine is no longer anywhere near the modern ones, I still prefer this one over the new ones.
For this reason, I decided to host the World Screenshot Challenger Series. This competition is in almost no way different from the Screenshot Competition, which has been raging for an extremely long time already. The WSCS is a monthly competition, but, different from the CSC, this particular competition will be judged by a panel of old rots in the business, and not the general audience.
Detailed feedback about the top three will be provided, and thus the point of this Series is to aid designers in improving the quality of their work.
Considering this a monthly event, designers will have a lot of time to fine-tune their screenshots to the max, and thus every designer should be able to deliver screenshots in which they demonstrate their full potential.
Every month a theme is chosen by the jury, and this theme is to be adhered to as closely as possible. Jury members will be disclosed at a later period in time.
To improve overall efficiency of this competition, several rules will have to be adhered. These rules will always be subject to change should it be seen fit, and some may be more lenient than others:
I don't suppose we need pages full of rules, so for now I'll just leave it at this.
