Anyway, so I'll keep it short then.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... I used to mod for AoM rather extensively. (See LTA.) Then I started getting tired and irritated of the messinesses of actually getting the mods to work perfectly and only modded theoretically with weird ideas for proto setups.
A while later I, along with some others, tried to revive the old Age of Modding site into something even more involved, with in mind that, among other things, I'd be able to find someone to actually create those ideas.
That website has sadly never reached anything semi-significant popularity.
So... yeah... I remembered those designs a bit ago while I was letting my mind wander aimlessly again. And now, I want to give them one last chance for survival. Because I really would love to see these actually in the game, and I think others would enjoy them too. But I don't have the time, drive, energy, or expertise to do it anymore. (It's been too long since I've modded.)
So, I'll post them here, in case some intrepid modder wishes to tackle them.
They are: The Black Knight, from Monty Python and the Holy Grail! You probably should be somewhat familiar with the source material to do them. Namely, it would help to have seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail to do the Black Knight. And it would help to have used a Petard in AoK for the Petard. And, of course, I would prefer to get some mention if it's ever made, but I really don't care. I'm more interested in just seeing one of these come to life. If so, try it! I'd love to see these things get made. Preferably post some way for me to contact you so that I can possibly help you if you get stuck and I happen to know/remember/have-an-idea-as-to how to fix it. Good luck! [This message may have been edited by Dnas (edited 49-92-4096 @ 42:93 PM).]
Petard, like the unit of the same name in AoK.
Complete with suicide-on-attack, chain reactions, explode-on-enemy-fire! Bring the explosite fun of the age of gunpowder to the cowering forces of the mythos!
Leaves limbs behind on death! Doesn't magically regrow limbs when healed like those silly DamageLogics! Three removable appendages! Ages 5 and up, some parts my pose a choking hazard for young children.
These aren't easy projects. I expect they'll require rather extensive modeling skills. After all, the Black Knight will require something like four sets of models and the Petard, done right, will need quite a skilled animator to exploit to the fullest.
You don't need to get like crazy permission and authorization or reserve anything to use these setups... I'm posting them specifically so that others can try their hand at them. Heck, you don't even need to contact me if you try them, although I would really appreciate it if you do so I can try to follow the progress somewhat in my limited time.
So, anyone interested?
