Hi everyone, this is my first mod. I recently got into AoM TT again. This is a simple protox edit that changes some unit stats to make the game, in my opinion, more realistic yet still balanced.
||AoM: The Titans
to install, copy protox.xmb file to age of mythology/data directory. overwrite current protox file. compatible with the titans only.
Please read general and culture specific changes. Recommended to play on moderate instead of hard.
>Villagers cost no population and have more health and defense (but vulnerable to cavalry)
>fishing ships cost no population
>transport ships only 1 pop space
>Basic soldiers cost only 1 pop and cavalry 2 pop.
>Walls and towers have much more health (wall costs 20g, takes 10sec to build and has 5000health)
>Houses now only give 5 pop but build limit increased to 20 (manors give 10 pop, build limit of 10) and have high health
>Build limit of towers/mirror towers increased slightly
>melee myth units more health but same armor and attack
>hill forts, palaces etc more attack and health but defense no change
>Town centers have drastically high health
Please read culture specific changes too! I have tried to make it as balanced as possible.
>Hoplites now have high pierce armor (the big shield has a purpose) but low crush and hack armor. Their spear attack is now pierce instead of hack. Less attack but more health and defense. They may seem overpowered but they were the bulk of greek armies for a reason. they still can be well countered though.
>Toxotes are much cheaper and faster to train, but weaker.
>Hippikon higher health and armor but cost more
>Basic military buildings (academy, archery range, stables) cost only 50wood
>Villagers cost only 40food
>Spearmen have pierce damage, much cheaper and faster to train. less health and def.
>Axemen cheaper and faster to train. less health and defense and still good against hoplites, destroyers and spearmen. has a minor crush attack
>Slingers very cheap and fast to train. much less health and defense and lower attack.
>War elephants much higher health and defense but more expensive.
>Set's animals cost no pop space
>egyptian barracks cost 120 gold
>Villagers cost 25 food 25 wood
>dwarves cost 50 gold
>ulfsarks/throwing axemen good against hoplites, destroyers and spearmen
>infantry increased attack, less health and def
>huskarls cheaper and better pierce armor
>jarls overall stronger but more expensive
>portable ram cheaper, faster trained, less health and less pierce armor. takes 2 pop
>ox carts no population space
>Raiding cavalry less defense but very effective against villagers and economic buildings
>norse longhouse costs 120 wood
>citizens cost 1 pop space (hero or not)
>ranged units higher attack, less defense and health
>melee units less attack, higher defense and health
>destroyer is like a stronger hoplite but with more crush attack. also has pierce attack instead of hack.
>promethean higher attack, lower defense and health
>automaton lower attack, higher defense and health
>atlantean walls very strong
>barracks and counter barracks more expensive

I am having some difficulty installing your mod. Usually for changes in the protox, the file is a .xml, but in the case of your mod it is a .xmb. I replaced the current .xmb with your mod and removed the .xml (so they wouldn't clash) and the game ran with out the changes your mod supplies. Any advice as to what went wrong?

Nice first mod, although it kinda seems that you destroyed the strategy side of things with this mod. Some of the additions are nice, like the villagers taking no pop (drastically changing the gameplay) but things like making the portable rams not have 99% piece armor, norse villagers costing wood (lol wth?) or making the hoplites have reduced crush armor is a bit odd.
You also seem to give everything extra health and make defensive structures a fair bit better, something that the original developers intentionally didn't do.
