This was originally uploaded in March, but I took it off the account it was on and uploaded it on this one. The scenario and the info are all the same.

TheAoMExpert and Pudgey present to you SLS - Something Like Sims.

What is it and how did the idea come about?

Well, I was never a big fan of those "sims" maps that used to be popular on ESO back in the day. I just never understood the point. The game itself wasn't really balanced, come to think of it it wasn't even a game of competition. It was more of a casual thing. In the original sims the host was kind of like "in charge", similar to god is watching. But what's the point of hosting a game that you can't compete in? I liked the whole concept of sims however, I just thought it needed some tuning. So, I decided to make my own version of "sims" and came up with this map and its objectives.

...Now for the true story:

Yes most of what happened above is the case, but I don't think I would have considered making this map if it wasn't for Pudgey (DRP_Pres_Ninja on ESO). He out of nowhere suggested the idea to me of creating something new for aom. Being that his familiarity with triggers was low, as he explained, it was suggested that I should do most/all of the triggers. Pudgey did the core layout for the map, and also put down 3 lots. I worked on it myself as well, completing the rest of the lots. Then the time came where Ninja could no longer work on it because of his access to titans was lacking. So, I took it upon me for us to finish this map myself, creating all the triggers and putting down additional map features, until it became what it is today.


The players can pick what kind of game mode they want. In any type, after a timer everyone becomes enemies. The host can decide whether to allow other players to steal lots from other people if they have enough money and take over all lots, or not and have to completely destroy the other players. The players also can't build markets themselves. They have to go down to the "bank" and purchase a market and make trade only when it's open (it opens and closes from time to time). Many of the lots have special features unique to themselves, and players have to decide which ones are worth purchasing and when. There are also bonuses on the sides such as forests with goodies in them.

Comps can be added, but will be eliminated some time in the beginning of the game.

SLS is the most tedious game I have made for aom yet. It was a lot of work to copy and fix triggers, and find and disable all the things in the game that would kill the gameplay. I hope it was all worth it.

Nickonhawk Nice idea, but it's just too squary!
