ABE is a revolution. Tasev presents the biggest innovation in Age of Mythology modding since AoMED was released in 2003.
Put simply, ABE allows you to make models the way Ensemble Studios made them. You will be facing no constraints whatsoever: animation length, materials, and attachpoints will now be taken from 3ds Max directly. In contrast to AoMED, no "base model" is required. In addition, Tasev is giving you access to a range of interesting options that were previously little-known (e.g. animated textures, mesh/material flags like "FOLLOWTERRAIN").
The UI is clear and simple and integrates well with 3ds Max. At version 3.0, ABE is stable and reliable. Even so, Tasev is continuing to support ABE with bug fixes and feature patches. The source code can be obtained from his github site:
ABE is optimised for 3ds Max 2015 which you can obtain for free if you are a secondary school or college/university student:

This is amazing. As someone who "grew up" modding in gmax and using the old import and export scripts, this is a game changer. Oh how I wish I had this when I first started modding! Really fantastic work.

Same error with 2017. Can we get a fix for this? Now blender doesn't work and neither does 3ds max

@Dethklok - It's best to use this with 3ds Max 2014-2016. AMP is 'optimized' to work with 2014. With 2016, you get a few more features out of 3ds but the AMP floater cuts off some buttons (all the features are still there, it just doesn't look as good). I recommend using 3ds Max 2016. Most of the advanced features that are different between 2016 and 2018 are not things that will export with AMP anyway (or are things that you will very rarely have use for).
Edit: Disregard the above. The AMP plugin has recently been updated to work with 3ds Max 2017-2020 and possibly later versions.
