A multiplayer free-for-all scenario by Zenophobia


Since multiplayer is returning to AoM, I decided to get into the swing of things by making another multiplayer scenario. I’ve forgotten how fun and easy it is to design for multiplayer. No complex storyline, no complex gameplay, just a bunch of awesomeness. :D

~=~=~=~What’s this?~=~=~=~

This is a four-player arena-type scenario where players fight for possession of the smashball, which is just a relic (albeit a very awesome relic). I’ve designed this scenario before, but it didn’t work out right so I remade it with better balance.

~=~=~=~Gameplay~=~=~=~

The goal of the game is to hold the Smashball until you get 600 points. Each second you hold the Smashball gives you a point.
Each player controls a pharaoh, and only their pharaoh may hold the Smashball. A pharaoh can summon units using favor, but what he summons depends on what terrain he is standing on. If your pharaoh dies, all your units immediately disappear, and you must wait for a short respawn timer before you can get back into the fight.

-ALL PLAYERS MUST BE NORSE
-Apes will turn into monuments that generate more favor, but the cost increases for each monument you have on the field.
-Rhinoceroses grant you god powers, but they increase in cost each time you purchase them.
-When a player spawns, all nearby enemies will be killed, so don't build stuff near the spawn points!
-Your score is displayed as wood. The score of the leading player is displayed under the timers.
-Type in "show score" to show all the players' scores.
-The smashball turns into a hawk every four minutes, moving someplace else, so players constantly have to chase it down.
-When you grab the smashball, all players receive a flare on their minimaps on your location, so be prepared to stand and fight!
-Players receive tech upgrades to their units at 150/300/450 points.
-All players have a small favor income that increases proportionally with the total number of points players have accumulated, so by the end of the game, battles scale to epic proportions. :D
-Players have an upkeep that costs favor equal to a percentage of their population. This is to help players who respawn after dying to catch back up.
-There is a rock-paper-scissors relationship in the game with not only the unit types but the four different factions as well.
